2016 Berkeley FILM Foundation Grant Cycle opens April 1.
In our eighth year and after having granted nearly $1 million, the Berkeley FILM Foundation invites East Bay filmmakers* to apply for grants in the areas of production, post-production and distribution.  The grant cycle closes on May 13.

BFF grants average between $10,000 and $12,000 with student grants at $5,000. Students must be 18+ and enrolled in a film program.   See our website for the stellar list of BFF grant winners to date.
 
The Saul Zaentz Award of $25,000 is dedicated to one exceptional film each year.

EXPANDING TO OAKLAND
Thanks to our generous donors, the East Bay Community Foundation and the LaFetra Foundation, BFF will award two $12,000 grants to Oakland filmmakers.
 
NEW THIS YEAR!!
A new $20,000 grant honoring Al Bendich, our beloved late BFF board member, will be awarded to a film that tackles an important social justice issue.

A COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT WORKSHOP FOR FILMMAKERS

 
                   Finding, Engaging and Leveraging Your Film Audience

March 31, 2016 | 1- 4 pm | The David Brower Center | Berkeley
 
In this workshop, Sonya Childress presents an overview of how to craft an impact strategy, work with broadcasters, how to crowd fund and build an audience, and how to recruit community partners.   Click here for Sonya Childress bio.

Participants will have an opportunity to brainstorm impact strategies for their films and ask questions about the evolving field of impact and audience engagement.

UPDATES ON BFF GRANT-WINNING FILMS
Thanks to a BFF grant, the producers are launching an outreach program to high schools and community colleges throughout the Bay Area. WONDERFUL!!
A recipient of a BFF student grant, the film is being screened at U.S. film festivals. Winner of an audience favorite award at Mill Valley Film Festival in 2015.
BFF helped get the film across the finish line to open at the Knoxville Film Festival where it won Best Doc and Audience Favorite awards.
The story of 40 years of LGBTQ comics artists. Now in production, BFF provided the first grant to the
creative filmmakers.
