Delegate from ADL 2015 Los Angeles Delegation Youth Leadership Mission presents her final project
LAMOTH hosted the final reception for the ADL 2015 Los Angeles Delegation for the Youth Leadership Mission. The program consisted of a customized museum tour followed by family and friends joining the delegates as they presented their final project, a podcast series, Voices of Change.

Righteous Conversations Participates in Slingshot Panel

The Righteous Conversations Project at LAMOTH was honored to participate in a panel of Los Angeles organizations selected for Slingshot. 

The Righteous Conversations Project at LAMOTH is proud to be named one of North America's top 50 innovative Jewish organizations in the 11th annual Slingshot Guide.

Selected from among hundreds of finalists reviewed by 93 professionals with expertise in grant-making and Jewish communal life, the Righteous Conversations Project is the only one of the 50 selected organizations focused on Holocaust commemoration and education work, and one of 16 organizations with women Executive Directors and Board Chairs. The Guide calls Righteous Conversations' work "essential to the future generations of Jews and all people."

When Man to Man Is A Wolf
: Scenes from the Life of Lidia Budgor

If you haven't yet seen When Man to Man Is A Wolf: Scenes from the Life of Lidia Budgor at LAMOTH, you have until April 14 to see this extraordinary award-winning short film and accompanying exhibit.  

When Man to Man is a Wolf is a stirring and beautiful animated film based on the personal narrative of Holocaust Survivor and LAMOTH Survivor Advisory Board Member Lidia Budgor. This exhibition and the animated film were made possible through the collaboration between Los Angeles Museum of the Holocaust and the Advanced Animation Class at College of the Canyons, led by filmmakers and Righteous Conversations Mentors Masha Vasilkovsky and Ruah Edelstein.

Liberty High School at LAMOTH

Dr. Avraham Perlmutter and students from Liberty High School
LAMOTH welcomed students from Liberty High School in Madera, California. The students began their visit with a docent-led tour of Museum galleries followed by a talk and Q&A with Holocaust Survivor Dr. Avraham Perlmutter.

Please join Jewish World Watch, The Righteous Conversations Project at LAMOTH, Action Kivu, and Stand With Congo for a screening of
When Elephants Fight, a film by Mike Ramsdell about the corruption and conflict that plagues the Democratic Republic of the Congo.  

The screening will be followed by a discussion with Amani Matabaro Tom, a Congolese civil society leader, and Mike Brand, Jewish World Watch's Director of Policy & Programs.

Tomas Kovar

Tomas Kovar was eight years old when Nazi Germany forcibly occupied his native Slovakia. In the wake of anti-Semitic laws and policies, Tomas and his family fled to the mountains with a group of partisan resistors. They hid in the small village Ponicka Huta with a non-Jewish family for the remaining six months of the war. After liberation, Tomas lived in Chile and in the United States. He currently lives in Thousand Oaks and has been actively involved with LAMOTH educational programs.

Renee Firestone

Renee Firestone
Renee Firestone grew up in Uzhorod, Czechoslovakia, an area annexed to Hungary in 1938. When Nazi Germany invaded Hungary in 1944, hundreds of thousands of Jews, including Renee's family, were deported to Auschwitz-Birkenau. Renee was imprisoned at Auschwitz-Birkenau and different labor camps around Europe and was eventually liberated by Soviet troops in May 1945. She has been actively involved with LAMOTH, and continues to speak all over the world about her experiences and about genocide.

You can see artifacts reflecting Renee's experiences in our weekly Survivor Speaker micro-exhibit, located near the front desk.

A docent-led tour of the Museum will immediately follow the talk.
