Cornell Engagement Opportunity - PRYDE!

The Program for Research on Youth Development and Evaluation (PRYDE) is a new initiative from the College of Human Ecology at Cornell to create a nationally-prominent program for translational research in 4-H Youth Development. Co-directors, Dr. Anthony Burrow and Dr. Jane Mendle are working with an advisory committee of faculty and staff from the Bronfenbrenner Center for Translational Research (BCTR) and the State 4-H Office to move the project forward in 2016.

A critical next step in the development of PRYDE is the creation of a team of 4-H educators that will work with PRYDE leadership to develop strategies and procedures that lead to successful campus-county collaborations. The group will meet via teleconference 8-10 times per year and in person on the Cornell campus once a year, collaborating with NYS 4-H staff and PRYDE team members. The purpose of this work group is to assist PRYDE researchers with building effective partnerships with county 4-H programs and to ensure that PRYDE research and extension efforts are aligned with the needs of CCE 4-H frontline educators, that they reflect the mission, vision, and values of the NYS 4-H program, and the needs of youth and families.

PRYDE is looking for a small group of current CCE 4-H resource educators, program leaders, or executive directors, who are closely tied to on-the-ground realities and are interested in serving on the work group and contributing to the development of PRYDE. The work group will also have the opportunity to increase their knowledge of cutting-edge social science research and evidence-based practice and explore new ways of applying it to their youth development programming. PRYDE will provide salary recovery to the CCE Associations involved equal to 5% FTE, plus coverage of travel to Ithaca once a year.

If you are interested in learning more, and/or applying for this opportunity, please let me know and I will send you the application materials. The applications are due to me by March 7, 2016.
