Please join us on Thursday, April 21, 2016 for a consultation meeting/webinar to learn more about a proposed new methodology to calculate blue box steward fees. It has been designed to respond to steward concerns that the existing methodology is too complex, difficult to understand and potentially unfair to certain material categories.

The new proposed methodology, developed over the past several months by a committee of 16 stewards who formed the Steward Consultation Committee (SCC), takes a principle-based approach that is easy to understand, fair, and able to stand the test of time.

On April 21st, co-chairs Scott Tudor (Sobeys) and Neil Antymis (PepsiCo) of the SCC will walk you through the details of the new methodology, highlighting its new features and how the committee came to its recommendation. Prior to the meeting, we will issue a pre-read document that will provide in-depth information and background regarding the methodology review, the research behind the approach, the options that were considered, and the calculation steps involved in the new methodology.

We hope you are able to join us at the meeting or via webinar on April 21st:
  • 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Pacific Time
  • 12 p.m. - 2 p.m. Central Standard Time

Meeting Location:  International Plaza Hotel (655 Dixon Rd, Toronto, ON)

The stewardship landscape and the mix of packaging materials have evolved considerably over the past few years. Now is the time for a new fee setting methodology that reflects the realities of today's packaging mix, and the collection and processing infrastructure that manages residential recycling.
