To Do:
If you're a little behind on your to-do's, that's why we're here.
Preparing for Public Policy Day? Make sure that you both email and call the scheduler in the congressional and Senate offices that you want to visit to request a brief (15-miinute) meeting with your representative/senator or senior legislative staff. If you're meeting with congressional members from your home state, then be sure to let the scheduler know that you are a constituent. If you are coordinating a meeting for a delegation, then let the office know whether there will be people in the group from that member's/senator's home state. If you are trying to meet with Senate HELP Committee or House Education and Workforce Committee staff, then you'll find their contact information in the
Advocacy Tool Kit.
If you are planning to meet with
federal agency officials as well, now is the time to send an email and make that written request so that you can follow up the following week with a call to confirm. Agency senior staff generally prefer to meet with groups rather than individuals so take the lead on coordinating your state delegation to make the most of your visit. You will find their contact information in the
Advocacy Tool Kit as well.
Whether you are meeting with congressional representatives or federal agency staff,
be prepared to tell the scheduler the purpose of the discussion.
Spring's legislative schedule is heating up, so it's important to contact offices
TODAY to ensure that you are able to schedule your appointments for the Wednesday afternoon of
Public Policy Day.
Stay tuned for more information on making the most of Public Policy Day.
We look forward to seeing you April 11-14 in Alexandria, VA.
