Bring your apron and rolling pin and join Sisterhood members and Religious School families as we roll, fill, and pinch to shape and bake those wonderful Purim treats - hamantaschen! These cookies will be given to Religious School students in class and the remainder will be sold at the Purim Carnival.  Proceeds will go towards Sisterhood's support of Religious School programs. If you can't make it but still want to support the project, you can donate your own baked hamantaschen to the sale.  (Last year we even received some gluten-free cookies that were much appreciated!).  Please RSVP to Melenie Pearson at [email protected] or (408) 506-7253.

Tot Shabbat with Catered Dinner

The perfect way to teach your children about Shabbat!  Led by Rabbi Magat and Cantor Meeka Simerly, families with young children will enjoy upbeat songs, a short story, and a talk with the Rabbi on the bimah.  All are welcome to these brief services on the third Friday of each month, starting at 6:00 PM. Stay after services and enjoy a delicious dinner provided by Sisterhood, of course at no charge!

Members of the former San Jose chapter of Hadassah will be joined by members of the local Sharone and Villages chapters to participate in our Shabbat Services.  We will honor the past glory of Temple Emanu-El as a Hadassah supporter, as well as its present and future in our region.

Adult Intensive Purim Study Session and Megillah Reading

Need a better way to spend your lunch hour?  Join Rabbi Magat on the fourth Wednesday of each month for an informal study and discussion session of a selected Torah portion. We will navigate through traditional interpretations and modern applications of our historic teachings.  Bring your lunch and be ready to get a new perspective on Torah. Open to members and non-members and no previous Torah study is required.

Scout
Erev Scout Shabbat Family Service with 1st Grade

Temple Emanu-El's connection with the Scouting movement remains strong, and once a year, scouts from the Congregation and around the South Bay are invited to attend a Shabbat service and come in uniform.  This Shabbat Service also includes the participation of our 1st grade students.

Violence-Free, Resiliant Communities

We all play a role in creating violence-free, resilient communities.  Join us for a special community awareness program to learn what is needed for our community to thrive, despite ongoing challenges, and how we can help address the needs.  People from the faith community, medicine, behavioral health, justice and law enforcement communities are invited to join together in learning from two panels of experts and our multi-disciplinary conversation.
