Ground Broken for New Assisted Living Community
"By investing in senior housing, we are investing in community," Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel noted during the groundbreaking ceremony held  on Feb. 26 for The Montclare at Lawndale. The development of the affordable assisted living community was made possible because of a partnership created between private industry and government at the federal, state and city levels.
 
Gardant will be managing the community, which will operate through the Illinois Supportive Living Program. The community will be located in Chicago's Lawndale neighborhood and will house 120 private apartments for adults 65 and older who need some help to maintain their independence.
 
Gardant Staff to Share Operational and Marketing Expertise

Staff of Gardant Management Solutions and assisted living communities managed by Gardant will be conducting educational sessions at the LeadingAge Illinois 2016 Annual Meeting and Exhibition being held April 5 through 7 in Schaumburg, Illinois. They will be discussing conflict management, how to get the most out of each interaction with prospects, and integrating a wellness approach into the interactions that nursing has with residents.

Researchers in London say they have found a gene linked to gray hair, according to a HealthDay report by Robert Preidt that was posted March 1 on the U.S. News and World Report HEALTH website.

Alzheimer's disease is much more than getting forgetful as you get older, a HealthDay health tip posted on the U.S. News and World Report HEALTH website reminds us. The posting highlights the warning signs of Alzheimer's disease.

Movement and Alzheimer's
A story by Yvette Brazier, posted March 13 on the Medical News Today website, indicates that physical activity can improve brain volume and cut in half the risk of Alzheimer's disease.

Can the Effects of Aging Be Reversed?
