CIEE Scholarship for AWQ Winners
The Council on International Educational Exchange (CIEE) is sponsoring the Carlos and Malú Alvarez 2016 Academic WorldQuest National Competition.

CIEE is the world leader in study abroad and international exchange programs. They have 23 locations worldwide, and 3 different High School Summer Abroad Programs that students participate in every year. CIEE's High School Summer Abroad Programs are truly once-in-a-lifetime experiences that are specifically created for high school students who love to travel and broaden their horizons. Participants will explore new cultures, make international friendships, and create memories for a lifetime!

As part of its sponsorship, CIEE will provide scholarships for the High School Summer Abroad Programs to students in the top two placing teams at the National Competition.

AWQ 2016 Champion Team: $3,000 Scholarship/student

Second-Place Team: $2000 Scholarship/student

CIEE High School Summer Abroad Programs are very popular and admission is on a rolling basis. We therefore strongly encourage all students participating in the AWQ Competition to check out and apply to CIEE's High School Summer Abroad Programs because spots are filling fast!

Testimonials from 2015 National Competition Winners
"Participating in AWQ has fostered a sense of global citizenship in me. I had a blast on the CIEE High School Summer Abroad Program to Seville! I traveled with fellow teammates Shravan and Abilash and we lived in Spain for 4 weeks. While there, we had Spanish classes with CIEE at their school every week day. In the mornings, we had various cultural activities, such as a cooking class or a tour of the Cathedral of Seville. On weekends, the CIEE program took us group of students to Cadiz, Cordoba and Granada. The program gave a lot of freedom to interact with the people of Spain and our host families, which I would say was my favorite part of the trip."
-- Matthew Raj, duPont Manual High School (WAC Kentucky and Southern Indiana AWQ champion team)

"The CIEE study abroad trip to Seville was amazing. We were able to live in one of the oldest, and most cultured cities in Europe. We made lots of new friends, developed bonds with our host families. We visited several other cities in our one month there. In Seville, we kayaked on the Guadalquivir River, we drew our own graffiti on a wall. I and my two other AWQ teammates who came with me bought city bike passes so we could ride bikes through the city wherever we wanted to go. That was really cool. "
-- Abilash Thout, duPont Manual High School (WAC Kentucky and Southern Indiana AWQ champion team)
