Dear Kathleen,

You guessed correct! Event committee members and volunteers were hard at work all summer, planning and organizing some of the most important events that directly fund our Centre. From golf tournaments to prairie oyster beer, we are so grateful for the time and energy you spent on these events that have benefited Calgary’s Prostate Cancer Centre, and will continue to year after year.
NO PAIN – NO GAIN! Get your cameras rolling and your wax strips ready as we launch the first annual “Tear a Strip off prostate cancer” during Prostate Cancer awareness month in September. Tearing a wax strip off only hurts for a minute – comparable to a PSA or DRE exam. A little pain now is much better than advanced prostate cancer. If you’re a man, woman or child show you’re aware and you care and join in the fun! Want to get involved? Here’s how!

1. Film a video of yourself tearing a wax strip (or bandaid in the case of small children) off with your smartphone or video camera.

2. Be sure to mention why you’re raising awareness of prostate cancer, nominate your friends, family, colleges, etc. to take the challenge.

3. Share the video on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram, tag your nominees and use ‪#‎tearastripoffprostatecancer in the message.
4. Make a donation at www.tearastripoffprostatecancer.com and encourage your friends to do the same.

Remington Golf Classic
On August 19th, the Stewart Creek Golf Course was once again host to the annual Remington Golf Classic. The sold out event raised $420,000 all in support of Prostate Cancer Centre in Calgary. Since 2013, the Remington Classic has raised over $1,000,000 for the Centre.
Priddis Greens Charity Classic
The 17th Annual Priddis Greens Charity Classic was held on August 11-13, to help raise money and awareness for the Prostate Cancer Centre in Calgary. The 2015 Charity Classic raised $395,000, which makes the grand total over $5,000,000 since 1999.
NutRaiser
On July 2nd, cowboys and cowgirls came together with Village Brewery at Bottlescrew Bill's to help raise money and awareness for the Prostate Cancer Centre in a unique way. The 3rd annual NutRaiser took place, where $8,500 worth of a special brew - beer and prairie oysters were sold, with all the proceeds given to the PCC.
Scott Land Stomp
The Scott Land Stomp went off without a hitch on July 2nd! Friends, alumni, and clients of Scott Land & Lease gathered at the Wildhorse Saloon, for an evening of celebration, fundraising and networking, where over $25,000 dollars was raised. Thank you for your generosity!
Research at the PCC
July 24, 2015 was a very busy and important day for the Prostate Cancer Centre! Dr. Desmond Pink came from Edmonton to test a new laboratory machine that is currently helping researchers identify new biomarkers and possible new tests for prostate cancer. Our research team worked together with Dr. Eric Hyndman to get the word out for people with prostate cancer to volunteer their time to donate biological samples for research.
