Halloween is over, the clocks have been reset (don't forget to change your smoke and carbon monoxide batteries) and I know it is so cliche to say "where did the time go" but Thanksgiving is only three weeks away and the rush to cast on your holiday knitting projects is looming. We have nine simple, quick-knit projects that won't break the bank from $10.00 to $35.00. Click on the project gallery photo link to take you to our blog and our shop elves will be ready to assist.

           JANUARY WORKSHOPS WITH BRISTOL IVY

BLOCKING 101 WORKSHOP
Saturday January 9th from 1:30 - 4:00
FEE: $65.00

Most knitting patterns will finish up by saying "block to measurements". But what does that mean? And should you steam block? Wet block? What about blocking lace versus blocking cables, or texture, or stockinette? Should you block before seaming or after? We'll talk about different options for different fiber, garment, and fabric types, and then get some hands on experience with blocking different swatches and some finished items. Bring anything with you that you'd like to block and we'll talk about your options! Note: all participants will be provided with a short lace pattern to knit for their blocking swatch prior to class, which can be knit in any fiber of your choosing. Participants can also bring small items they'd like to practice blocking.

INTRO TO BRIOCHE
Sunday January 10th from 9:00 - 12:00
FEE: $75.00

Brioche is an easy stitch that creates a lush, drapey, warm fabric. In this class we'll learn the basic principles of working brioche flat and in the round, and increasing and decreasing in pattern, and get started on knitting the Hey, Little Songbird pattern.

Please bring to the class: approximately 70 yards of worsted weight yarn and US 7 needles for swatching and practicing and 800 yards of sport weight/DK yarn and US 10 ½ needles for the stole. (please note, we will not be winding yarn during the workshop)

BRIOCHE THE NEXT LEVEL
Sunday January 10th from 1:00 - 4:00
FEE: $75.00

After learning basic brioche, knitters are often intimidated by working it in the round or working it in two colors. In this class, we'll learn how to take your brioche seamless, how to incorporate two colors, and a few more complex decreases that really let your fabric shine.
Experience level: Experience working brioche flat (either in a previous class with me, or on your own), knitting, purling, working in the round.
Please bring to the class: Approximately 100 yards of worsted weight yarn, 16" circular needle in an appropriate size for your yarn, 50 yards of a complimentary or contrasting color.

Registration begins November 17th and space is limited.

HEATHER'S HELPFUL HINTS

When a patterns says to decrease (or increase) one stitch at each end of the row, the best practice is to work the decrease in one stitch from the end. This will keep the edge neat for wearing or for sewing.
