Around the Globe:
BOBS from Skechers Puerto Rico Distribution

BOBS from Skechers and retailer Shoe Carnival teamed up with Fondos Unidos de Puerto Rico and K.I.D.S./Fashion Delivers to provide new shoes to children in need in Puerto Rico. On February 3 and 4, more than 2,000 pairs of new donation shoes were distributed in the San Juan, Aguadilla and Mayaguez areas of Puerto Rico. After receiving their new BOBS donation shoes, children were able to enjoy refreshments and personalize their shoes at hosted decorating stations.

"We live in a society that teaches we should dress and act a certain way, therefore shoes cannot be an impediment," says Dr. Jose Luis Castro of Fondos Unidos de Puerto Rico. "We are distributing the shoes along with educational materials provided to us by other nonprofit organizations, so our children will perform well in school."

Update:
South Carolina Flood Recovery
Mayor Benjamin and Rania Jamison.
In October 2015, many families and individuals were faced with the daunting challenge of recovering from the devastation caused by a massive storm that affected the South Carolina area. From Charleston to Columbia, the state endured days of extreme rainfall and flooding.

During the holiday season K.I.D.S./Fashion Delivers partnered with Columbia South Carolina Mayor Steve Benjamin to help flood survivors and add a little seasonal cheer with a Holiday Pop-Up Shop. K.I.D.S./Fashion Delivers donated over $1.9 million dollars in new product to assist with relief efforts. Himatsingka America provided Lady Antebellum's Heartland home goods merchandise to assist with our relief efforts. Other donors include Aeropostale, Gap, Gerber Childrenswear, IKEA, Melissa & Doug, Toys R Us, Kimlor Mills, CHF Industries, Franco Manufacturing and more.

Mayor Benjamin's office spearheaded efforts to help local communities, and he expressed his thanks to K.I.D.S./Fashion Delivers for helping rebuild after such a challenging experience.

"Just as our residents will forever remember the historic flood of October 2015, the fondness for K.I.D.S./Fashion Delivers will remain with us," says Mayor Benjamin. "The generosity of your staff, board and supporters created ripples of hope during one of our most challenging times.  We proudly proclaim that we are Columbia strong. Thanks to K.I.D.S./Fashion Delivers we are stronger!"

The $1.9 million of product sparked other businesses, community organizations, churches and individuals to contribute their time and resources for a weekend-long shopping experience that benefited over 3,500 South Carolina flood survivors just in time for the holiday season.

Agency of the Quarter:
The Franklin Junior Foundation
The positive impact that K.I.D.S./Fashion Delivers donations has on families through the work of the Franklin Junior Foundation has been far-reaching.

"We are the vehicle, but K.I.D.S./ Fashion Delivers is the gas that makes us move forward," says Franklin Oleh, founder of the Franklin Junior Foundation.
"And as you can see by the pictures, your donations are already bringing joy to the staff and volunteers who are part of that journey."

The Franklin Junior Foundation was created a  decade ago to help offer hope to families who needed help in tough times; its programs are focused in NYC and Africa. It has initiated several programs aimed at serving the economic and educational needs of low-income households and communities, providing emergency food and clothing. As a community partner of K.I.D.S./ Fashion Delivers, the Franklin Junior Foundation utilizes the donations from us to help local shelters within the NYC area. In addition to the local community outreach, the Franklin Junior Foundation also helps children and families in 10 countries in Africa, particularly areas in Nigeria, w here Boko Haram militants have been responsible for the death of millions of people.

Funder of the Quarter:
Vera R. Campbell Foundation

Thank you to the Vera R. Campbell Foundation for supporting K.I.D.S./Fashion Delivers' mission of  distributing new product to  people in need or affected by disaster.

Vera Campbell established a foundation dedicated to education and advancement of women and children, in both developing countries and inner city Los Angeles.

The support  the foundation provides to K.I.D.S./Fashion Delivers helps our community partners provide new product to individuals and families in need.

Corporate Donor of the Quarter:
Dona Bela Shreds

Our corporate donor of the quarter is Dona Bela Shreds from West Des Moines, IA. This boutique is owned by West Des Moines native Allison Davidson, and she makes one-of-a-kind scarves and pins by using upcycled textile remnants.

Allison understands the importance of giving back to others. In 2015 Dona Bela Shreds participated in our holiday drive and donated some of their beautiful scarves to Family Nest, a community partner in Boone, IA.

In addition to its donation of scarves, Dona Bella Shreds made a meaningful  end-of-year financial gift to K.I.D.S./Fashion Delivers. It is the generosity of companies like Dona Bela Shreds that allows us to provide product to over 700 community partners nationwide each year.

On behalf of each person who receives a useful gift from K.I.D.S./Fashion Delivers, thank you to all of our supporters.
