Spend Memorial Day Sunday with Us
Our annual Patriot Sunday features re-enactors from the 6th PA Regiment, "a living history organization of the American Revolution," and representatives from the Pennsylvania Society of the Sons of the American Revolution, pictured here. Our Patriot Sunday service commemorates 900 men including members of our local militia who voted unanimously to approve their own "declaration of independence" on May 27, 1776, more than a month before the Continental Congress approved THE Declaration of Independence in Philadelphia.
This Sunday you'll learn how they gathered at a local farm to air their grievances and then cast their vote to decide "Whether the present Government is competent to the exigencies of our affairs?" You'll experience a colonial era service led by Pastor Bob Stevens in colonial garb and you'll sing music from the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries. You also can talk with re-enactors from the
6TH PA Regiment with the men wearing Revolutionary soldier uniforms and women in colonial garb.

And you'll probably hold your ears while they fire musket volleys in a salute to commemorate the patriots we are remembering this Memorial Day weekend!
Jane Knotek, our organist and director of music ministry, will play gathering music at 10:30 a.m. with "Songs of God and Country," and Mary Ann Briggs will be the featured soloist during the service. Come and elebrate this significant moment in our local history and commemorate Memorial Day with us at
this always informative, always interesting service!

Next Steps in Our Ministry to Those who are Homeless
There was an extraordinarily positive response to the breakfast ministry we provided 3 days a week from November thorugh April to those who are homeless. We received positve feedback from everyone involved: from those who were served, from volunteers, from our members, and from the community at large. Some 135 volunteers gave over 1800 hours service to prepare and serve about 4,000 meals to about 70 people a day.
After reviewing evaluations and finanical data,
Zion's Church elders and deacons voted at their May Consistory meeting to continue developing our Jubilee Breakfast Ministry for those who are homeless.
We will resume this ministry in November when the city's warming shelter opens again. In the meantime, we will need to replace the steam table (both elements burned out the last week of the breakfast!), purchase a new chest freezer to better manage food supplies next year, and buy additional kitchen prep and serving equipment.
...to be continued...

Entrance
Enter the Gross McGinley (Crown Tower) lot via 7th St.
DO NOT attempt to enter the lot through the alley!
Look for the blue Liberty Bell Church Parking sign at the entrance to the lot on the north side of their building (pictured here).
Thank you to Dave Dettra for his service as our volunteer parking lot attendant!

NOTE: Depending on the time you arrive, the sign may be at the lot on the south side of the building!
Remember, too, that street parking is available both on Hamilton and Seventh Streets.
If you need assistance with parking, please call the church office (610-435-2412).
