The RDGA wishes to say a big THANK YOU to all who attended this year's second annual Rochester Golf Day presented by the RDGA last Saturday at the Doug Miller Family Sports Park - as well as the RDGA Member golf clubs, businesses and charities who spent the day with us as exhibitors. A fun time was had by all - and now we're all ready for the 2016 golf season to begin !

As part of the day's activities, attendees entered our grand prize free raffle - as well as several smaller raffles for which attendees purchased tickets (with proceeds going towards junior golf programs supported by the RDGA Foundation, Inc.). Official raffle prize winners were as follows:

USGA/RDGA to CO-HOST HANDICAP SEMINAR at OAK HILL;

REGISTRATION IS $10, SPACE IS LIMITED

On Thursday, May 19, the USGA Handicap Department and the RDGA will be hosting a one day USGA Handicap Seminar at Oak Hill Country Club in an effort to educate golfers about the USGA Handicap System, as well as changes to the system for 2016.

During the seminar, attendees will learn:
*   The intricacies behind how a Handicap Index is calculated to keep it fair for all golfers;
*   The important role the Handicap Committee plays to keep the System running smoothly at each club;
*    Highlights of the USGA Handicap System - including changes to the System for 2016.

Attendance for this one-day seminar is $10 per person, and will be limited to the first 100 registered participants, so be sure to register early! The seminar will run from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and a continental breakfast will be provided. PGA Professionals will receive education credit for attending.

FORESIGHT JUNIOR GOLF INITIATIVE
ANNOUNCED BY RDGA FOUNDATION INC.

JUNIOR GOLFERS TO ENJOY FREE MEMBERSHIPS
TO COUNTY PARKS COURSES UNDER THIS NEW PROGRAM

The RDGA Foundation Inc. has announced a groundbreaking new program designed to introduce the game of golf to area middle and high school students through their physical education classes.

The program - ForeSight - is a cooperative effort between the Foundation, the RDGA, the Monroe County Parks Golf Courses, Kless-Myers Golf Management and physical education teachers and golf coaches from local Section V school districts. Through the teachers and coaches - as students are introduced to, and begin to play, the game of golf - select students who express interest in the game will be provided summer memberships, including unlimited golfing privileges, at the three Monroe County Parks Courses at Churchville, Durand Eastman and Genesee Valley Parks.

FREE RULES of GOLF SEMINAR SET for APRIL 16 at CCR

On Saturday, April 16, the Rochester District Golf Association will be partnering with the New York State Golf Association to host a USGA Rules seminar at the Country Club of Rochester . Best of all - the seminar is FREE of charge!

Each spring, free Rules of Golf seminars are made available to the golfing public across the state of New York . This year, the format of these seminars has changed to include interactive videos detailing common situations that players often encounter on the course. During registration, you will have the opportunity to submit questions ahead of time so that the instructors may tailor the presentation towards those that are most commonly asked.

Although the seminar at the Country Club of Rochester is free, attendees are required to pre-register using the NYSGA's online registration system ( click here to sign up now ). Attendees will receive a copy of The Rules of Golf (2016-2019) and will be entered into a raffle to win Rules-related items. Complimentary refreshments and pastries will be served.
