Each Mind Matters Webinars Coming Soon

Based on the excellent survey responses we received from a large number of affiliates, NAMI California and Each Mind Matters, California's Mental Health Movement, will be teaming up to conduct a two-part webinar for NAMI affiliates on how you can incorporate Each Mind Matters into your current programs. NAMI California thanks each affiliate that responded to the survey to help guide the agenda of this webinar.

On Wednesday, March 23, from noon to 1 pm, EMM team member Lisa Smusz will provide information about:
  • What Each Mind Matters is
  • The symbolism of the EMM green ribbon
  • How to co-brand with collaborators so NAMI receives recognition
  • The NEW EMM toolkit that will be released just two days prior to the webinar
Bettie Reinhardt will also talk about how being involved benefits NAMI and our members.

On Wednesday, March 30, from noon to 1 pm, Bettie Reinhardt will review the information about Impact Statements in the NAMI California Affiliate Capacity Building Resource Guide and facilitate input from affiliates with published statements. Because this is an ongoing effort, interested affiliate leaders will be recruited for a task force to augment Impact Statement information in the Resource Guide.

A webinar invite, including instructions on how to register, will be sent out this week to NAMI affiliates, so please keep an eye out for the email. For any questions, please contact Bettie Reinhardt at [email protected] or Erik Villalobos at [email protected]

Ending the Silence Online Presenter Training

A reminder to affiliates already running the Ending the Silence program: NAMI California now offers training for new presenters through an online training format developed by NAMI. This program allows presenters on-demand training to meet the needs of those with busy schedules. This online program will record when a presenter completes the training and is ready for the next phase of training.

Please review the Online Presenter Training Process for California for details on the process of the online training (link below). If you have questions, please contact Erik Villalobos, Education Coordinator, at [email protected] .

For affiliates that do not already offer the program, NAMI California will be hosting in-person ETS trainings this spring. Please stay tuned for more information as details become available!

Upcoming Training Opportunities

Below is the schedule for NAMI California Education and Support Group Programs.
Trainings are announced in this weekly report and the Upcoming Trainings page on our  website.

Applications are still being received for the following Family Program Education Trainings:
  • April 1-3: Basics and Family-to-Family Ontario
No IOOV or Connections trainings are scheduled by NAMI California at this time

*Important Note:   There will be additional trainings offered for all the programs above. These workshops will be hosted by affiliates and sponsored by NAMI California in the form of small grants. Affiliates interested in holding their own trainings with grant assistance should contact [email protected] for details on how to apply for a grant. Trainings will be announced in your region as they become available.

NAMI support group trainings are for NAMI members to become facilitators of a support group. The education trainings are for members desiring to become teachers or mentors of an education program. Upon graduation, the affiliate makes arrangements with the graduate to teach the class.

Qualifications for training: Interested parties should be NAMI members in good standing and ideally have graduated from the same education program they intend to teach. A participant also needs to be recommended by their local NAMI chapter. Additional qualifications will apply. Please ask your NAMI affiliate to contact Family and Peer Programs Supervisor Lynn Cathy at [email protected]  to receive an application via email. Prospective teachers/facilitators should return their applications in a timely manner as these workshops fill quickly.
