How many people visit the Palo Alto Junior Museum and Zoo? We need volunteers to help us count them.

Beginning in May 2016, the JMZ is undertaking a year-long project to count visitors a few days a month. We are currently recruiting volunteers who enjoy working with families and children to help us.

How to Sign Up:
Contact Kathleen Schlierat at  [email protected] for more information. She will provide details, dates and times that are available. Volunteers must be at least 18 years old. Seniors are specially welcome!

Sweetheart Awards

Three Junior Museum & Zoo staff members have been identified as community 'Sweethearts'! In February, Ines Thiessen, Trudi Wallick, and Heather Schultz were given Sweetheart Awards from the Palo Alto Committee of SEPA 1 CAC & the Palo Alto Council of PTAs.

Meng Lan Siew and her son, Lukas, say that Ines and Trudi are "wonderful ladies who include Lukas in everything whenever they visit the Junior Museum & Zoo." When they get ready for a trip to the JMZ, Lukas always insists that he "packs snacks for Ms. Ines and Ms. Trudi just in case they are hungry."

Of science educator Heather Schultz, Meng and Lukas say that Heather is "an AWESOME science teacher" who makes "science so much FUN!"

Congratulations to Ines, Trudi and Heather for this much deserved award!

Building a New Junior Museum & Zoo

The Friends of the Junior Museum & Zoo Board of Directors is grateful for the more than 80 individuals, corporations and foundations that have invested in the JMZ Initiative, the campaign to rebuild the JMZ. Each dollar raised is matched by $1.50 by the Peery Foundation.

As we close in on the remaining $3 million to be raised to meet the Peery Foundation match, the project becomes ever more real. Detailed work on the building design is underway as well as development of special exhibits and expanded educational opportunities. Please join us for It's a Launch Party! on March 23rd and help us plan and re-imagine the Junior Museum & Zoo.

We welcome new Advisory Council member, Leannah Hunt, and we thank recent donors, including the David & Cheryl Duffield Family and the  Peter & Kristan Norvig Family.

We are grateful to all donors who have given to the Friends of JMZ and the JMZ Initiative. Your donation - whatever size - really makes a difference.
