But we have this treasure in clay jars,
so that it may be made clear that this extraordinary power belongs to God
and does not come from us.
2 Corinthians 4:7

THE FOLLOWER
June 2016
Pastor's Corner

Summer is here! As I write this, we are experiencing the first really warm days of the year. Things are springing up all around. People are out and moving around outside. This is a repeated ritual in Minnesota year after year. After winter (no matter how easy it is) the return to warm temperatures and new life gives us a sense of energy. It is exactly this that we dream of on colder and darker days in the winter. We know it's coming and the anticipation is what consoles us and presses us forward. So it is with our lives of faith. There will be difficult days in our lives, but we know that they will pass and the warmth of the good times that God gives presses us forward.

We gather as a community to remember and to celebrate this every week. It is easy to forget. That's why we need to be frequently reminded with worship. So, it is as we enter into a season where we are out and about more (and not necessarily around home), that I would like to encourage you to worship regularly wherever you may be. We need to hear these rock solid promises that we are given by God. We need to be reminded and to remind others. Gather together and celebrate these wonderful gifts given to us by God!

God's blessings for an amazing start to summer!

In Christ,

Pastor Matt

NEW LOOK, SAME CHURCH
You might have noticed that the top of this newsletter looks a little different than it has in the past.  That's because Cross of Calvary is in the process of modernizing our look!  Our new logo (at the top) offers a brighter design.  Our website will soon be getting a refreshed look as well in the near future.

COMMUNITY DINNERS
Join us at the church on Thursday evenings at 5:30pm during the month of June for a community dinner!  This dinner will include tasty picnic style foods (hot dogs, barbecues, chips, lemonade, bars, etc.).  Bring your family and friends and enjoy the food and fellowship!  Free will donation to Outreach missions.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL DONATIONS
This year's VBS has a "Cave Quest" theme!  The VBS planning team will be making decorations to match the cave-like theme.  The planning team is looking for donations of "Great Stuff" spray foam so they can create a rocky/rough texture on the cave decorations.  All donations will be greatly appreciated!
