What's Good For You Isn't Always Right for Your Pet
Our pets mean the world to us. They make us happy; they make us whole. It is easy to get carried away with how much love we want to give. But it's imperative that we keep them safe at all times. Sometimes we don't realize all the poisonous things our dogs and cats can get into just around our own homes. There's no better time to remind us of prevention tips than in March, Poison Prevention Awareness Month.
Hope Springs Eternal Allergies: Get Your Pets to Stop Scratching that Itch
Coughing. Sneezing. Teary Eyes. Yep, it's that time of year. Allergy season is upon us. However, it's not just people who experience seasonal allergies that can start in the spring and hang on until the fall. Our pets are susceptible as well, although they often experience different symptoms.

Make the Right Litter Go a Long Way
Right from the start cats know instinctively to do their business in a litter box. It is one of the great things that comes along with having cats. It is also important to remember that cats are finicky. How can we forget? We can't. They remind us every day. They can even be fussy about their litter box. Keeping the perfect litter box is not only good for your feline, it is also great for you and your home, too.

Employee Spotlight:
Kit Carson, client service specialist
Customer service is in Kit Carson's blood and began when he was 16. He has been doing it in the animal services industry for the past 20 years, so he knows people and pets and how to treat them.

"I make sure everyone has a good experience," Kit says. When people drop off their pets at Second Home, Kit finds out everything he can about the pet from age to any medical conditions of which to be aware.

A lifelong animal person, Kit grew up on a farm in western Pennsylvania where he had chickens, rabbits, hogs, goats and dogs. "I was the one of six children who didn't mind to get up at 4:30 in the morning to feed the animals," he says.

Today he has his own laying hens, five dogs, five cats and two rabbits.

Having been with Second Home almost three years, Kit enjoys "all the different breeds and personalities when they come through the door and wag their tails. I love to see happy dogs."

Kit wants pet parents to know they can call any time to check in, while he also offers to send them videos of their pets, which puts people at ease.

At Second Home, "we genuinely care," he says. "We care what they think about us and how we care for their pets."
