HUMOR COLUMN
More Jokes from Bob:

As Bill was approaching mid-life, not only was he going bald, but he also had a large pot belly. The last straw came when he asked a woman co-worker out on a date, and she all but laughed at him. Determined to change his life, he joined a gym, started eating right, and got an expensive hair transplant and new clothes. Six months later he asked his female co-worker out, and this time she accepted.
All dressed up for the date, looking better than he ever had. He stood poised to ring the woman's doorbell, when a bolt of lightning struck him and knocked him off his feet. As he lay there dying, he turned his eyes toward the heavens and said, "Why, God, why now? After all I've been through, how could you do this to me?"
From up above, there came a voice, "Bill? Is that you? I didn't recognize you."

A Sunday School teacher decided to have her 2nd grade class memorize Psalm 23, one of the most quoted passages in the Bible. She gave the children a month to learn the chapter.
One little boy was excited about the task, but he just couldn't memorize the Psalm. Although he practiced and practiced, he could hardly get past the first line. The day came for the children to recite Psalm 23 before the congregation. The little boy was nervous. When his turn came, he stepped up to the microphone and proudly said, "The Lord is my Shepherd and that's all I need to know!"

The visiting preacher was really getting the congregation moving. Near the end of his sermon he said, "This church has really got to walk," to which someone in the back yelled, "Let her walk, preacher!"
The preacher then said, "If this church is going to go, it's got to get up and run!" Someone again yelled with gusto, "Let her run preacher."
Feeling the surge of the church, the preacher then said with even louder gusto, "If this church is going to go, it's got to really fly!" Once again with ever greater gusto, someone yelled, "Let her fly, preacher, let her fly!"
The preacher then seized the moment and stated with even greater gusto, "If this church is really going to fly, it's going to need money!" Someone in the back yelled, with gusto, "Let her walk, preacher, let her walk!"

As my five-year-old son and I were heading to McDonald's one day, we passed a car accident. Usually when we see something terrible like that, we say a prayer for whoever might be hurt, so I pointed and said to my son, "We should pray."
From the back seat I heard his earnest voice: "Dear God, please don't let those cars block the entrance to McDonald's."

A man died and went to heaven.  He was met at the Pearly Gates by St. Peter who led him down the golden streets.  They passed stately homes and beautiful mansions until they came to the end of the street where they stopped in front of a rundown cabin. The man asked St. Peter why he got a hut when there were so many mansions he could live in.  St. Peter replied, "I did the best with the money you sent us."

Trinity Tidbits--Week of Pentecost 2

TOTH logo
This week begins what I call 'The Long Green.'  And that's not meant to be a golfing reference.  I'm terrible at golf.
We begin the Season after Pentecost, where all the vestments are green, and we live in this season until November 27, the first Sunday of Advent.  That's quite a long time.
With this season comes a bit of slow down at the parish.  The Youth Groups have wrapped up.  Sunday School is ending.  The Chancel Choir won't be singing on Sunday mornings.  As I said, a bit of a slow down.  But that doesn't mean your spiritual life needs to take a break.
The Long Green can be a time of growth, of seeing your spirituality as green trees and plants growing stronger, soaking in more of the sun (or Son, for a bad pun). Be on the lookout for ways to grow your faith during the Long Green.

   Peace,
   Chris
Fr. Chris is on Vacation
From Thursday, May 26 until June 3, Fr. Chris will be on vacation.  For pastoral needs, please contact Mtr. Louise or Mtr. Alicia, whose cell numbers are on the back of the Sunday worship bulletin.
"Virtual Machine" Assistance Needed
Jane, our office IT person, would like to learn more about "virtual machines" to see if this would be good for our office computer setup.  If anyone in our parish knows how to setup and use virtual machines and would be willing to instruct Jane on them please contact the Church office and let us know.  Thank you.
TOTH Playground Project Update
Friday May 27th, there will be concrete delivered to TOTH to pour into the holes for the playground. Please come and help in any way possible. The concrete will be delivered "no later than 10am." Bring a wheelbarrow and gloves if you have them. There will be another work day laying landscaping fabric and the fall material. This should be easier as they're both much lighter. Currently, we are looking at wood mulch for the fall material. Please discuss this decision with Malcolm or Michelle Carr if this gives you any heartburn or angst.

Jerome Colletti, another troop 22 boy scout will be installing the fence after this. We are looking at a beautiful, low maintenance, vinyl, privacy fence with gate. We will be announcing work days when they are set.
Laurie Triplett's ordination
to the transitional Diaconate is Saturday June 4th at 11am at the Cathedral in ABQ. The Youth Choir is planning on singing. Please come join in this long anticipated celebration. And if able, please bring finger foods for the reception afterwards. If you're unable to attend but want to send food, let Michelle Carr know and she'll arrange to take it down. We're anticipating, between the 2 ordinands, 100+ people attending.
The next Smith's Bucks order will be on Tuesday, May 31 -- due by Noon
TOTH's regular order to recharge Smith's Bucks cards is placed every other week, now. This is to try and increase our order and get a larger percentage donation for the church from Smith's. If you don't have a card yet, just put a check in the plate and write "Smith's Bucks new card" on the memo line.
The next deadlines for Smith's orders are the Tuesdays during the week after LANL paydays: June 14 and 28, July 12 and 26... Mark your calendars! Thank you for your participation!

MORE Efficiency in Parish Life Event Planning with "Sign up Genius"!
Parish Life Ministry would like to streamline events and make the distribution of the work load less onerous. We are doing a few things - ensuring events go under the proper ministry so it doesn't all fall back on Parish Life; ensuring there is a coordinator for each event or it won't happen (someone needs to spear head events); online signups for volunteers or food.
If you're not receiving emails from www.SignUpGenius.com (for sign ups at the church), please email me at [email protected].  And if you want to be removed, please also contact me. I have removed a couple of names and added a couple of names already. This is a way to easily sign up to volunteer for set ups, clean ups and potlucks. You can also go to the SignUpGenius web site and click at the top right to look for sign ups. At the next page, enter my email and the security letters. You'll be directed to our TOTH sign ups. Currently we have 3 - Laurie's ordination RSVP and food, graduation BBQ and coffee hour.    Michelle Carr

Fourth Annual DRG Women's Retreat June 10-11
The 4th annual summer women's retreat for enrichment and pampering will be at St. John's, Farmington (312 Orchard) on June 10-11.
The weekend starts on Friday evening with dinner at 6pm (registration at 5:30pm) and will end by 3 pm on Saturday.
Registration is $25. You can register online at SpiritedSummer.eventsbot.com or download the form and poster from VarietiesofGifts.blogspot.com.
Lodging is on your own. There are many hotels to choose from, and a few in-home rooms may be available.
Taking our cue from the writings of Madeleine L'Engle, Hildegard of Bingen and others, we'll reflect on ways we create: prayer, meditation, art, music, icons, jewelry, writing, relaxing, cooking, gardening... Come explore this topic and learn that you really are creative, even if you think you aren't artsy-craftsy! In whatever form, our creating makes us 'co-creaters with God' and living icons of God's love in the world.
Invite a friend to come with you, even if she doesn't go to church, to this time to re-create, re-connect, and re-new.
Contact Cindy Davis ([email protected]) with questions. Some scholarships are available.
