Earlier this month, I had the privilege of visiting 'the Sirraff', as DEME's E-Crane barge in Singapore is called, with a potential client from Indonesia. During the visit, I spoke to several DEME employees and one of them came up to me (he was working in the survey department - unfortunately I didn't get his name) and made some comments about the E-Crane.

Initially I didn't know what to expect, but it soon became clear to me that he wanted to make a compliment. He commented that he was very impressed with the workmanship on the design, the steel structures, the installation team and work as well as the finishing. One of his last comments: "Even the tie-wraps were all cut at the same length and in the same way...!"
He further made a remark about the consignment parts we have delivered to Singapore for the project. He was really amazed/surprised that a company like ours made such an effort in order to support their clients!

I gladly took in these compliments and said that I would relay the message to all involved at E-Crane. So thank you all for all the hard work it took to make this E-Crane what it is today, I am sure it will also be very successful when the actual operation starts at the end of this month. (Right now they are still training the operators and doing some tuning on the dredging software).

Once again, thank you all for your contributions to this project!

Phase 1 of Tuas Terminal

SINGAPORE - The Tuas Terminal development - a testament to Singapore's commitment to retain its lead as a global maritime nation and to invest in port infrastructure - entered Phase 1 of its construction today.

When completed, the 21 deep-water berths under Phase 1 will be able to handle 20 million Twenty-Foot Equivalent Units (TEUs) per annum. The entire mega-terminal will have a total capacity of up to 65 million TEUs.

"The Tuas Terminal is a centrepiece of Singapore's 'Next Generation Port Vision' and demonstrates our strong commitment to strengthening and sustaining our leadership position as a global hub port and international maritime centre.  Additionally, we hope that complex projects of this scale can inspire the next generation of engineers to join the profession and help shape our future." said the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) Chief Executive, Andrew Tan.

The Tuas Terminal will be developed in four phases over a span of 30 years, with Phase 1 scheduled for completion in the early 2020s.
Support for "Motoblood" Event at Głogów Old Market

On April 16th, 2016 in Głogów Old Market, local motorcyclists of Głogów once again organized the event called "Motoblood." The main goal of the event is to promote voluntary blood donation and the collection of blood for the sick or injured in accidents.

E-Towers Famaba joined this noble initiative for the second time. All volunteers gave blood at specially designed stations operated by employees of the donation centre. Despite the rather cold weather, donors waited patiently in line to give their blood to the needy.

The event was accompanied by rescue demonstrations and a performance by a local rock band.

 Supplier of the Month: Hoyer

Since 2012, E-Crane has relied on Hoyer as a regular supplier of electric motors, particularly because it is a priority of E-Crane for all sub-components to have the necessary level of quality and durability.

1.400 Tonnes of Soya Unloaded in Just One Hour

On a barge anchored in the middle of the roaring waters of the Amazon River, a crane manufactured by Belgium's E-Crane is hard at work loading and unloading grain and soya beans. Motors manufactured by Hoyer ensure that the crane is able to handle the heavy loads and fast pace.

All around the world (from the bitter cold of the Polar Circle, to the stifling heat of the Amazon River) hydraulic cranes manufactured by E-Crane are at work to handle scrap metal, move grain, unload coal or dig up mud from the ocean floor. Such work often involves heavy loads and demanding, around-the-clock conditions.
