Greenane Farms Authentic Mexican Restaurant

No need to wonder why Greenane meat tastes so good—this is the green grass and pasture the cows are roaming on. If you’re making a trip upstate, their restaurant at the farm serves authentic Mexican food and opened for the season on April 30. They are located in Delhi, New York. Call ahead for reservations 607-746-8878. Hours are Thursday from 5 till 9pm, Friday & Saturday from noon till 10 pm.

Harvest Feature

Looking for a fun trip out of the city, come and celebrate National Dairy Month with the Catskills Family Creameries, who will host the 4th annual Travel the Milky Way on Sunday, June 19! It’s a self-guided tour, and activities on each farm begin at noon and end at 5pm. Soft-sided coolers will be provided for on-farm purchases while supplies last.

Farm to Table

Pheasant Breast with Lemon Shallot Sauce

Sounds fancy but it isn’t—we made it Sunday night. In 20 minutes dinner was on the table. It was a nice change from chicken breasts. Two come in a package and they’re from our friends at Cavendish Game Birds of Vermont.

Hi Everyone,

Hello Sunshine! Produce lovers, all those rainy May weekends will be forgiven once you see this season’s harvest. The farmers tell me the combination mild winter and wet spring results in the lushest crop—spicy greens and wild arugula, green beens and bell peppers, peas and radishes, carrots, leeks and herbs aplenty. Rhubarb is at the market, and we’re just waiting for the June strawberries. All to be featured this spring at Eat Food CSA.

Last year our family celebrated Memorial Day weekend by visiting many of our farmers in the Catskills. It’s easy to find a lake, state park or farmers’ market only about two hours from the city. Cleanse your palate with a visit to a farm—pet goats, pigs and rabbits and feast on delicious BBQ ... yes goats, pigs and rabbits.

If you can’t make it up to the farm, we have your fresh food needs covered. Get the BBQ sauce ready. To celebrate those sunny weekends, Eat Food will be taking 15% off beef and pork ribs, beef short ribs and pheasant breast with drumlette (see recipe).

Our next CSA is June 2. Please place your orders by Sunday, May 29. The following CSA is June 23.

All the best,
Chad
