Summer is a great time to visit DeKalb County!  Fests, 5Ks, and other events will give you a weekend of entertainment and memories. Use the event calendar, 2016 Visitors Guide and updated Spirits Brochure to help plan your trip.

Community Gardens:
DeKalb County has an ever growing Community Garden Program, including WalnutGrove Vocational Farm. Open Tuesday through Saturday 10am - 7pm, Sunday 12 - 5pm (closed on Mondays).  The farm sells potted plants, flowers and other items to the public. It's a great way to eat and buy local. Visit their Facebook page for more information. 

Eat Local DeKalb: 
There's a great new way to find local farm stands in Northern Illinois! EatLocalDeKalb.org  has created a   map showing the locally grown and produced   produce, livestock, alcohol and more available right here in Northern Illinois. This organization also hosts events in the DeKalb area featuring and supporting locally grown items. 

Local Spirits: 
DeKalb County is proud to be home to two wineries featuring Illinois  Wines, the  only estate distillery in Illinois and two breweries. All five, Prairie State Winery, Waterman Winery, Whiskey Acres Distillery, Cademon Brewing & Forge Brewhouse, all are close together and open this summer. Stay for the day to enjoy a couple stops or the weekend to  savor the wines, spirits and beers at all five. Local Fests:
June brings two fests to DeKalb County. Join us for  Malta Days June 3-5 &   Genoa Days June 8-11 . Both fests feature a  5K ,  parade, free live music, carnival rides, along with your favorite fest fare!

Other June happenings: 
  • 2 - Ladies Night Out -  prizes, drawings, giveaways, silent auction, $3 "chick flick" at Sycamore Theatre and more.
  • 11 - Literacy on the Lawn - featuring Carolyn Crimi, the author of Where is my Mummy and Tessa's Tip-Tapping Toes
