A Change of Pace
Dear Members and Friends of Our Savior's Lutheran Church,

This week marks a change of pace for us at Our Savior's Lutheran as we enter into Summer mode.

This Wednesday will be our final Story Worship and meal. This service has been very well attended throughout the program year, but with the busy Summer schedules we found attendance to decline significantly last Summer. It will resume in full on Wednesday, September 14!

This coming Sunday marks the beginning of our new Summer Sunday worship schedule. Services will be at 8:00 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. now and throughout the Summer. This schedule will be in place until Rally Sunday, September 11, when we switch back to our program year schedule.

A nice addition to our 8:00 a.m. worship service this Summer will be an opening hymnsing that will begin 10 minutes prior to the service beginning. Worshipers will select their favorite hymns and we will sing a couple verses of each. So, starting this Sunday, come 10 minutes early if you want to join in the hymnsing! We'll offer this each week in the Summer.

Another item to keep in mind as we enter Summer mode, is your financial tithes and offerings to the church. We are noticing that our weekly financial offerings are significantly lower than where they should be this time of year when held next to our budgeted financial need. Traditionally, Summer month giving drops even more. Please prayerfully consider how you and your family might continue to give generously to Our Savior's now and throughout the Summer. Watch for information regarding a mid-year budget update meeting.

In worship this week we will hear about one of the strangest miracles of Jesus - one done by long distance. Jesus and the Centurion in the 7th chapter of Luke had never met. The Centurion sent messages to Jesus through others about a slave who was seriously ill and near death. Jesus healed this slave whom he had never met or even saw. We learn that the miracle happened, not because of Jesus' touch or healing words, but rather because of the simple authority of Jesus' words. The power of Jesus' Word still makes a difference in our world and in our lives today. Be assured that nothing is too much trouble for Jesus. We'll explore this further in worship this week!

Peace!

Africa Trip!

Have you ever thought about traveling to Africa? We are beginning the planning process for a group from OSLC to travel to Africa and visit our companion congregation in Mlafu, Tanzania the fall of 2017. If you have always dreamed about visiting Africa, perhaps now is the time. Significant preparation is required for a trip such as this (passport, visa, shots, etc), so planning must start now.  If interested, please attend one of the following meetings: Sunday, June 5, at 11:00 am in the Family Room OR Wednesday, June 15, at 7:00 pm in the Family Room. Put the date(s) on your calendar and come to learn more!

Guatemala Donations

Many thanks to those who have been so generous with your offerings of hygiene items to go to Guatemala in June as hostess gifts for the women of Israel. There are 32 women in Israel and to date we have 14 completed kits. If you are able to supply some of these gifts you can leave them in the CLC in the box labeled "Guatemala gifts." Items needed are combs (they don't need to be large combs), deodorant (regular size), hand cream (2.5 - 2.8 oz. size),bar of soup (regular size), hair ties, toothpaste (medium size) and toothbrush (in a single package). Prayers are also much appreciated!
