NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING ON:

 

I.    Koppers Inc., Carbon Materials and Chemicals, Follansbee, WV.  Proposed variance from Pollution Control Standards for Discharges to the Ohio River 2013 Revision Chapter 4.F, Mixing Zone Prohibition for Bioaccumulative Chemicals of Concern.
 

II.    Mountain State Carbon, LLC, Follansbee, WV.  Proposed variance from Pollution Control Standards for Discharges to the Ohio River 2013 Revision Chapter 4.F, Mixing Zone Prohibition for Bioaccumulative Chemicals of Concern. 
 

III.    Valley Converting Company, Inc., Toronto, OH.  Proposed variance from Pollution Control Standards for Discharges to the Ohio River 2013 Revision Chapter 4.F, Mixing Zone Prohibition for Bioaccumulative Chemicals of Concern.

 

Pursuant to the authority contained in Article VI of the Ohio River Valley Water Sanitation Compact, and by direction of the Ohio River Valley Water Sanitation Commission, a public hearing will be held by the Commission on August 18, 2015 at the Pullman Plaza Hotel, 1001 Third Avenue, Huntington, WV.  The hearing will be conducted from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm (EDT), or until completed.  The record of the hearing shall remain open and written testimony accepted beginning today and extending until close of business on September 4, 2015.
 

The purpose of said hearing is to receive comments, including data and scientific justifications or other supporting rationales, concerning each of the Commission's three proposed variances as follows:
 

I. Proposed Koppers Inc., Carbon Materials and Chemicals, Follansbee, WV, variance from Pollution Control Standards for Discharges to the Ohio River 2013 Revision, Chapter 4.F, Mixing Zone Prohibition for Bioaccumulative Chemicals of Concern, regarding their discharge of mercury to the Ohio River, which can be accessed from the Commission's Pollution Control Standards web page at www.orsanco.org/pcs.

 

II. Proposed Mountain State Carbon, LLC, Follansbee, WV, variance from Pollution Control Standards for Discharges to the Ohio River 2013 Revision, Chapter 4.F, Mixing Zone Prohibition for Bioaccumulative Chemicals of Concern, regarding their discharge of mercury to the Ohio River, which can be accessed from the Commission's Pollution Control Standards web page at www.orsanco.org/pcs.
 

III. Proposed Valley Converting Company, Inc., Toronto, OH, variance from Pollution Control Standards for Discharges to the Ohio River 2013 Revision, Chapter 4.F, Mixing Zone Prohibition for Bioaccumulative Chemicals of Concern, regarding their discharge of mercury to the Ohio River, which can be accessed from the Commission's Pollution Control Standards web page at www.orsanco.org/pcs.
 

All interested parties will be given adequate opportunity to express, both orally and in writing, their views and supporting rationales upon the issues to be considered.  Brief oral summaries and submission of written comments are encouraged.
