March Maintenance Guidelines

After years of working in the industry and building a nursery business around Oklahoma's inclement weather, we are suggesting the following maintenance guidelines:

*Apply ferti-lome's Fire Blight Spray to help control and prevent blight on crabapple, apple, ornamental, and fruit bearing pear trees when they begin to bloom. This is the only opportunity to apply this prevention.

*If you haven't yet, pre-emerge with EC Grow, Barricade or Hi-Yield Turf & Ornamental Weed & Grass Stopper (a summer annual herbicide) to turf areas through mid-March to prevent summer weeds such as crabgrass from germinating.

*The month of March marks the first of four applications to fertilize your cool-season lawns (Fescue, and Rye Grass) with Marcum's Fertilizer 18-6-12. You may also apply to all trees and shrubs.

*Prune roses just before growth starts and use ferti-lome Rose and Flower Food with Systemic Insecticide as the foliage appears. Use the ferti-lome insecticide every six weeks.

Chump's Chatter

What acronym continues to pop up more and more in our gardening conversations? Marcum's Nursery continues to add additional organic products that are OMRI approved and considered safer for consumers and our environment.

When Marcum's gardening experts refer to their products as being
OMRI approved, what does this mean?

Dahlia's Answer: OMRI (Organic Materials Review Institute)

Dahlia's Dirt!

OMRI: Organic Materials Review Institute

The OMRI is a private non-profit organization that determines whether or not a product qualifies as organic or not under the USDA's National Organic Program (NOP).

Come to our first annual Spring Open House and hear more information from our suppliers on OMRI approved products.

Breakfast Egg Casserole
Egg, cheese, peppers, onion and sausage breakfast casserole served with coffee on a rustic table plate, fork and napkin
One of our favorite things to serve for dinner is breakfast.

I recently served this recipe to our cousins visiting from Dallas for their spring break. It's an all time winner because it takes ten minutes to prepare. Better yet, you can put it together the night before and have more time for making
family memories.

Enjoy for breakfast, brunch, or an evening meal.
