I have received considerable feedback from neighbors supporting our efforts to properly regulate Short Term Rentals to protect the character and integrity of our neighborhoods, your property values, and the right to quiet enjoyment of your home. Commentator and editorial opinion in the city wholeheartedly supports common sense limits on Airbnbs in Chicago.

Community Presentation for Proposed Redevelopment at 2448 / 2462 N Lincoln Avenue
Please
join my office and the Wrightwood Neighbors Association (WNA) to review a proposal by Blitzlake Developers to redevelop the parcels at 2448 North Lincoln Avenue and 2462 North Lincoln Avenue. The applicant seeks to construct two four-story buildings, with approximately 22 residential units and 5,000 square feet of ground level retail on the 2448 North Lincoln Avenue parcel and 9 residential units and approximately 1,200 square feet of ground level retail for the 2462 North Lincoln Avenue parcel.
My office will be present at this meeting to monitor the discussion, take notes, and record your feedback.

Debt Transparency, Accountability and Performance Ordinance Unanimously Passes City Council
On Wednesday, May 18, the Chicago City Council unanimously passed the Debt Transparency, Accountability and Performance ordinance (DTAP), which I co-sponsored. This major regulatory ordinance creates oversight and transparency for financial transactions to finance our city debt that has plagued us in past years.
Under the new ordinance, no long-term debt or financial transactions with interest at a non-fixed rate may be entered into by the City without several new criteria. The ordinance requires a heightened level of scrutiny on debt transactions, an extended public notice and comment period, and additional reporting from the CFO regarding financial transactions. Importantly, it also requires a review by our Council Office Of Financial Analysis (COFA), whose creation I spearheaded. Less than a year old, COFA's duties are expanded by this ordinance.
This financing ordinance is the product of months of w
ork and holds the City of Chicago more accountable for its financial undertakings in the future. Thanks to Alderman John Arena (45th) for his leadership on this ordinance.

Spring Pops Concert. The Advance String Orchesthra, Symphony Orchestra, Symphonic Band 1, and Wind Symphony will play a variety of popular music that promises to be fun for all ages. LPHS Auditorium, 2001 N. Orchard. Tickets are $5 for adults, $2 for students, and available at the door.

The long awaited restoration of curb and sidewalk after the water main and sewer replacement for the Kenmore/Seminary/Diversey area has been completed. I'd like to thank the residents who have been very patient and understanding throughout this project.

43rd Ward Recycling & Shredding Event
Thank you to all who came out to the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum on Saturday, May 14th to properly dispose of expired medications, old electronics, and shred sensitive documents. A special thanks to the museum for allowing us to use their parking lot to host the event, and to the Cook County Sheriff's Office for providing the trucks and manpower to make this event happen.
