If you have a full-time academic career and have children, or would like to start a family, and conduct research in a location that is not your primary area of residence for extended periods (i.e. more than two weeks) please take a 15-20 minute survey about how academics balance work and family life when undertaking extended research trips and/or fieldwork. The survey will inform a larger research project being conducted by Dr. Stephanie McNulty and Dr. Gretchen Meyers to describe and analyze the process of balancing fieldwork with parenting.  Any questions or concerns should be sent directly to the researchers.  Take the survey here.

The APSA Research and Development team has compiled a report on the Faculty Salaries for the 2014-15 Academic Year. The report contains the median salaries in 334 departments of political science or government. Compared to data from the 2013-14 academic year, full time faculty salaries in political science increased, though the rate of increase varied by department and institution type. The report draws on results from APSA's 2014-15 Departmental Survey. Contact us with any research questions, suggestions, or ideas. View report.

Read the new report prepared by the Committee on the Status of Women in the Profession " Pipeline to Tenure: Institutional Practices for Hiring, Mentoring, and Advancing Women in Academia." The report outlines the practices, policies, and procedures that PhD granting departments and universities are adopting to increase the recruitment, retention, and advancement of women in academia. It also includes a list of selected resources. View report.
