KATH CARTER'S CALL TO ACTION FOR MISSION PROPELLE
From Kath Carter, Transactions Advisory Services Partner at Ernst & Young LLP: That's the mantra shared by the 15 third grade girls who visited our EY office's on Wacker Drive last month to be inspired by our female executives. In truth, they were the ones who inspired us. These girls joined us from Mission Propelle - an organization whose mission is to empower elementary school-aged girls to know who they are, what they believe and how to advocate for themselves through yoga, reading, and mentoring.

Together with International Women's Day, EY is creating a ripple effect that advances women in the workplace today and helps create opportunities for them in the future. Inviting Mission Propelle students to learn from me and my colleagues at EY is one way I activated my personal commitment for the "Pledge for Parity" in line with the IWD's theme for their campaign this year. My pledge is to inspire young women everywhere to achieve their highest potential.

As a fellow TCN member, would you consider being part of the ripple effect and taking action to accelerate gender parity? EY was able to host one class of young girls, but Mission Propelle is in over 70 schools. Wouldn't it be great if every class had a chance to spend time with the amazing women role models in the TCN? If you are interested in hosting a group of girls from Mission Propelle to join you for a morning of mentoring, yoga and fun, Annie Warshaw ( annie@missionpropelle.com) is the Chief Executive Officer and would love to hear from you.

Please don't hesitate to call Kath if you have any questions about the Pledge for Parity or Mission Propelle. She is excited to share her pledge and encourages Network members to do the same. "As many of the girls so eloquently reminded me during their visit to EY: Girls rule. Inequality drools. I couldn't agree more!"

GOVERNORS STATE UNIVERSITY GRADUATES RECORD NUMBER OF STUDENTS

During two commencement ceremonies on May 14 and a doctoral hooding ceremony on May 12, Elaine urged students to do two things - keep learning and help others. She concluded her remarks with her traditional, final directive; "Make us proud. Make us better. Make a difference."

In granting just over 70 doctoral degrees Elaine reminded the new graduates that "We expect you to use your educational attainment, not solely for your own advancement. We expect you to make society better." Read more...
