Teaching and Coaching for Success 

Teaching and Coaching for Success focuses on supported employment/systematic instruction strategies presented in the context of the Project SEARCH environment.  This training is also relevant to any organization that supports individuals with disabilities in competitive employment.

Discussion topics include:

  • Research-based job coaching and educational techniques
  • How to design meaningful internships so students can learn systematic and complex work.
  • Strategies for tracking skill acquisition that make use of Lean tools, other evaluations and customized vocational student profiles.
  • Creative ways to teach employability (“soft”) skills 
  • Educational research regarding feedback and critical thinking skills that all workers need to be successful. 
  • Highlights the role of each Project SEARCH partner as well as successful strategies for collaboration among all the partners, especially the Project SEARCH instructor and the job coach.

Who is this training for?  

This training is recommended for any new Project SEARCH team member, including the Instructor/Educator, job coach, job developer and VR counselor. 

Presenters

Erin Riehle and Susie Rutkowski, of Project SEARCH national will be your presenters.   Erin and Susie have decades of combined experience as the co-founders of the first Project SEARCH site at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center and Project SEARCH national.

Cost  

FREE. There is no cost thanks to our funding partners, Department of Vocational Rehab (DVR) and Development Disabilities Support Division (DDSD).
