Last week we told you about the "Meet the Kringles" fashion show and the additional two fashion shows the Hoosier Santas are hosting.

This led to many of you thinking about what are you going to wear at Discover Santa 2016.

So I have put together some information on the type of clothing you may want to bring to Branson.  I do hope this will help.

Additionally, as you are planning on what to wear you may decide you need something else.  So I must remind you we have some wonderful vendors will can help you enhance your wardrobe before you come to Branson.  Please check out the list below or visit the convention web site.

May I also suggest, if you have questions or are looking for solutions to a problem, you check with your fellow Santas or visit one of the Internet chat rooms, or Facebook pages, to ask your fellow Santas and Mrs. Claus for suggestions.

And finally I have learned that over 250 of you will be arriving in Branson between July 1st and 5th, which means you may want something to do. Well your convention committee does have three events starting on July 6 which you can take advantage of.  Read about Golf, a blood drive and Car Show below.

Santacerely,

WHAT TO WEAR AT DS2016

As the hundreds of Santas and Mrs. Claus start their preparations for attending Discover Santa 2016, their thoughts are focused on what to wear.

To this end, we would like to give you some handy hints and suggestions.
Santas in Class
Yes, there are a few times when you may want to dress up a bit, such as the Red Suit Gala and of course you will be wearing your Santa suit or Mrs. Claus ensemble for the Parade of Red Suits.

BASIC SUMMER ATTIRE FOR SANTA AND MRS. CLAUS
But let's be realistic, it is July, In Missouri, and the weather will be quite warm.   What you wear should be very casual.  The highs will be in the eighties.   Pretend you're on vaca tion, or a cruise.

Of course, the color of the day, every day, is "RED."  This is not to say you should be wearing solid red clothing all day.   It should be loose and comfortable.  Maybe it's a pair of khaki  shorts with the red canvas belt, topped by a nice red golf shirt.  Or a casual Hawaiian style shirt.

Dinner theater with Santas
For the ladies again it is casual and shorts are very popular.  As are golf shirts, sleeveless blouses, etc.

I have included some photos here which offer some examples of what you could wear a majority of the time.

You may also want to talk with your fellow Santas and Mrs. Claus about what they plan on the packing and bringing to DS2016.

I also invite you to view the video from the original convention.  The first part shows much of the dress for the Parade of Red Suits.  After the conclusion of the parade there is a collection of photographs showing many of the Santas and Mrs. Claus in their casual attire.

DRESSING FOR THE "PARADE OF RED SUITS"
Very simply, this is the main media event for the convention, to tell the world we have arrived in Branson.  The dress is your favorite Santa Suit or Mrs. Claus ensemble.  This could also be an old world Santa or Father Christmas.  More details of the parade can be found on our website under the parade button.

The parade is held early in the morning, 7:00 AM, which means we will be waking you up at 5:00 AM in order to give you time to get dressed and take one of our convenient buses to Branson Landing, site of the parade.

The temperatures will range between 50 and 70.  It should be quite comfortable as the landing is on the shores of Lake Taney-Como.  And the parade route is about a ¼ mile long.

THE RED SUIT GALA - WHAT TO WEAR?
The Red Suit Gala, where "Red is the new Black," is on Saturday night, July 9, our last evening in Branson.  The Gala will begin with a reception and "Meet the Kringles," a special fashion show featuring some of the finest Santa and Mrs. Claus outfits and ensembles.  This will be followed by a gala dinner with live entertainment.

Dress for this evening does not have to be your Santa suit, although some will want to do that.

We like to say "Dress to Impress."  You may have a nice suit, or maybe a tuxedo.  If you've ever been on a cruise maybe this is what you wore on formal night for dinner.  The Grand Ballroom is Air Conditioned and very comfortable.

I do hope this information helps.  You may also want to talk to your fellow Santas and Mrs. Claus to see what they're wearing.  Possibly they have attended special Santa functions in the past and can give you some insight into what they and others wore.

ARRIVING EARLY - THERE IS LOTS TO DOI!

I just learned that over 250 Santas and Mrs Claus will be arriving in Branson a few days early, between July 1st and 5th.  Of course Taunya is available to assist you with reservatons and admissions to many of the great shows Branson has to offer.  Call her at (800) 432-4202.

And your convention committee has also set up some special activities on July 6, the main arrival day for everyone.

GOLF OUTING -JULY 6,  9:00 am
For those of you who golf, we have made arrangements for tee times at one of the local goft courses.  It will not be a full fledged golf tournament, probably only one or two dozen golfers.  But it will be lots of fun.

Branson actually has six wonderful courses in the area and we have chosen one right off the main highway, close to all hotels.  More details on this event will be available next week.  We are also looking for someone to chair or coordinate this.

AMERICAN RED CROSS BLOOD DRIVE - JULY 6, 9  am to 3 pm
Why not consider giving o ne of life's most precious gifts, blood.  We all know Santa as a gift giver.  And yes, blood is one of the highest gifts you can give.  It's a gift of life.

Santa Kevin Scott hosted the first blood drive down in Florida last year and it met with wonderful results.  Now he  is organizing our blood drive and the Red Cross is going for a Guiness Book World Record for the most Kringles donating blood on one day.  The drive will take place at the Chateau on the Lake and you can sign up on the web site.

"MY OTHER CAR IS A SLEIGH" - CAR SHOW, JULY 6, 9 am to 3 pm
Many Santas are very proud of their 'wheels!'   From simple signs and lettering to custom paint jobs to completely wrapped vechicles, there are lots who love to show off.

So we are settng aside a special area in the parking lot of the Chateau so that everyone can display their vehicles and sleighs.

Additionally we will also have a special staging area at the "Parade of Red Suits," where some of the cars will be on display.  A few might event be invited to be in the parade.  For details visit our web site.

We are proud to have possibly the largest and finest group oif vendors attending DS2016

Below is a complete list of the Vendors and a bit about their products and services.  We are asking all of the vendors to give us lists of their products and services, to include in the directory. We will also include their email and web site addresses and telephone numbers. This will be an ongoing task during the next month or so.

And each week we will spotlight a few of the vendors, so that you will be totally up to date before you come to DS2016.  To contact hte vendors now just visit the convention web site and find the links.  You can find out more about the vendors and actually search the site by keywords for the products or services you are looking for.  This will become more detailed as the vendors give us their information.

Additionally if you are looking for a custom suit or clothing, you will be able to contact the vendor in advance and make an appointment to be measured and make you order.
