EARLY RELEASE DAY

Our first Early Release Day for students will be this Wednesday, August 26. The schedule for Wednesday will be:

1st Period: 8:20-8:50

2nd Period: 8:55-9:25

6th Period: 9:30-10:00

7th Period: 10:05-10:35

3rd Period: 10:40-11:10

4th Period: 11:15-11:45

5th Period: 11:50-12:20

Buses leave 12:30

PARKING

All students who have purchased parking permits MUST begin parking in their designated space beginning Monday, August 24. Students MUST have their temporary permits displayed in their vehicles.

JUNIOR PARKING LOTTERY

Junior Lottery winners will be announced Wednesday 8/26. The winners will be posted at the athletic office. If you have any questions please contact Coach Sylvestri.

ATTENDANCE OFFICE REMINDERS

Check In: School starts at 8:20 AM. Students who come to school after school begins must stop at the attendance office and check in. The student will need a parent or guardian note, doctor note, or parent/guardian in person to check in.

Check Out: If your child needs to be checked out early, please send a note to the attendance office the morning of. This will ensure a speedy checkout and less interruption in the classroom. Be prepared to show your ID upon arrival.

Last student early check out is 3:00 PM.

Only forgotten lunches and homework will be accepted in the attendance office to be placed on the cart.

We are looking forward to a great year!

**Excuse notes should include the student's name, grade, reason for being late and the date, as well as parent/guardian signature. We cannot accept phone calls or emails with late excuses**

COLLEGE & CAREER CENTER

VISITS

College visits begin 8/24 with Washington University, St. Louis in the CCC. Sign up in CCC. 10:20-1:30.

BOOT CAMP

Session 2 of Boot Camp week of 8/31. Please sign up in CCC.

STAY INFORMED

If your student is new to Milton High School and was involved in Gifted at his/her previous school, please contact Renee Denney to get your student registered for Gifted Services at Milton High School.

The Milton Counseling Department hopes that your student is having a wonderful beginning to the 2015-2016 school year! We would like to remind you that we have now ended the time frame for schedule changes and schedule change requests. We look forward to working with you and your student as we begin our classroom guidance and parent nights.

Senior Parent Night

Senior parents are invited to attend Senior Parent Night in the Milton Auditorium at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, September 2, 2015. Important information will be presented about the college application process, GPA, college entrance exams, letters of recommendation, and transcripts. A speaker from Peachtree College Planning will also share financial aid information. We look forward to seeing you there!

CLASS PICTURES

ID & Underclass Photo Retakes: Retakes for underclass photos are Oct. 6, 2015. You can pre-pay on the Cady Studios website at www.cadystudios.com. Students must take a photo for their school IDs and the yearbook.

Senior Portrait Make-Ups/Retakes: Contact Cady Studios; retakes are complementary. Seniors need to be photographed by Sept. 30th, 2015 in order to have the option to select their pose for the yearbook. We only accept photos from Cady for your yearbook picture. This Friday is GAMEDAY! Milton will be taking on Alpharetta this Friday night. We want all students to show their school spirit this week as we build up to our first HOME Football game of the season!

INTEREST MEETINGS

BASEBALL

If you are interested in trying out for baseball, there is a player information meeting on Wednesday August 26th at 7:45 AM in the AUDITORIUM. If you can't attend the meeting, see Coach Ray his classroom for the information (Room 4208). All students who are interested in trying out need to attend. There will be a meeting for ALL PARENTS on Wednesday Night, September 9, 2015 at 6:30 PM in the Chorus room.

SWIMMING & DIVING

Athletics

Cross Country - Congratulations to the Boys and Girls Cross Country Teams on their performances at the Ekiden Relays this past weekend. Boys Varsity got 1st Place and the Girls Varsity got 2nd Place! Both Boys and Girls JV also placed 1st!

Volleyball - Defeated Riverwood last week.

Academics

Congratulations to Coleman Maberry, who represented Milton at Latin Nationals in San Antonio, Texas. The National Junior Classical League state convention hosts over 2000 of the best and brightest Latin students in the country and includes an overwhelming 25 academic contests. Its purpose is to encourage an interest in and an appreciation of the language, literature, and culture of ancient Greece and Rome and to impart an understanding of the debt of modern culture to that of Classical antiquity.

Coleman was on the National Champion open certamen team and scored top 10 in the world in four academic events including the following:

Latin Poetry - 4th place

Latin Prose - 6th place

Advanced Latin Grammar - 9th place

Ancient Geography - 10th place

Overall, Coleman was ranked the 29th best Latin student in the country as a result of his Herculean efforts!
