Composer David Borden of Mother Mallard's Portable Masterpiece Company has generously offered to loan his c. 1967 Moog modular synthesizer to be exhibited as part of
Switched-On. Borden's modular synthesizer was designed by Bob Moog and used by Bob as his demonstration synthesizer during his years in Tompkins County. Before leaving Trumansburg, Bob sold the modular to Borden, who used it for many years in Mother Mallard, the world's first synthesizer ensemble.
Please join us for the unveiling of this historical artifact, learn how David Borden acquired and used this early synthesizer, and share in this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
Free and open to the public.

A Milestone for Switched-On
Friday, October 3rd, 2014
5pm - 8pm
The History Center
401 E. State /MLK Street, Suite 100
Ithaca, NY 14850
As part of First Friday Gallery Night, The History Center, in partnership with the Bob Moog Foundation will kick off "Moogtober" with very special performances by The Electric Golem in conjunction with live light painting by artist Stephen Schweitzer. This improvised performance will feature digital and analog synthesizers accompanied by Schweitzer's live light art installations. Using hand-held lights, a video camera and projector, Schweitzer "paints" compelling and fascinating scenes - creating a unique live video experience that visitors can participate in. The Electric Golem are Trevor Pinch and James Spitznagel. Together they create modern psychedelic mindscapes thanks to Pinch's use of the Moog Prodigy, Minimoog and his homemade modular synth, and Spitznagel's battery of digital devices and his employment of the Moog iPad apps, Animoog and Filtatron.
Free and open to all.
