JARI's Neighborhood Assistance Tax Credit Application Approved

Debi Balog
Workforce Development Director

The Pennsylvania Department of Community & Economic Development has approved JARI's Neighborhood Assistance Tax Credit (NAP) application for $152,000.00. Contributions from seven businesses will be used to provide Class A Commercial Driver training and student internships to eligible individuals residing in the Moxham and Roxbury sections of the City of Johnstown.

The NAP Tax Credit Program provides businesses with state tax liability the option to make a donation to the JARI Workforce Program and receive 75% tax credits in exchange for their donation.

Special thanks to the following business contributors whose tax dollars will be "put to work" supporting residents of our local community: 1st Summit Bank, CAMCO, Electromet Corporation, Environmental Tank & Container, North American Höganäs, Northwest Savings Bank, and Somerset Trust.

If you are interested in learning more about the training programs or are a business that would like to participate in the JARI NAP Tax Credit Program, please contact JARI Workforce Development Director Debi Balog at 814-262-8366 or via e-mail at  [email protected] .

As president of MDR Global Systems in Windber, 32-year-old Michael Kovatich is helping to push the boundaries of cancer research. As an entrepreneur leading two other companies, he's applying an action-oriented approach to improving the Windber area, including renovating a nearly 100-year-old building along Graham Avenue.

Read about his projects and progress in the Jan. 31 edition of The Tribune-Democrat in the first of a new series: "Success Conscious." To be printed on the final Sunday of each month, the series, a partnership with Entrepreneurial Alchemy, aims to shine a light on the sometimes behind-the-scenes work of entrepreneurs in our region and their ideas on how to spark success. The goal is to create a dynamic, engaging collection of business-success stories for our region. The profile stories, accompanying Q&A, video and other web elements will be available at www.tribdem.com. Make suggestions, look for updates or share your thoughts on the stories or the region's successes on Twitter using #SuccessJtown.
