SPRING 2016
April 28 - 29

IN THE NEWSInthenews

Attention:  Chamber Members, Community Partners and Business Leaders:

September 2-4, 2016
Save the date for the Inaugural Event that the area has been waiting to celebrate!  Make sure you have the date marked on your calendar and plan to be part of the celebration.  Excellent entertainment is just a portion  of the positive attributes of this event.  It's about economic development, quality of life, giving back and community.  So please join us the first weekend of September 2016!

For more than a year, a group of local organizations have been planning a music festival that can have a sizeable economic impact on Pike County and Southern Ohio.  Board members of the Pike County Chamber of Commerce, the Pike County Convention and Visitors Bureau and the Pike County Fair Board have worked with Southern Ohio Multimedia, owned by Waverly resident Rick Greene, and SamJam Promotions, owned by Sam Karr, of Marshall, Ind., to bring a dynamic, large-scale music festival to Pike County.

The result of this public-private partnership is the 2016 SamJam Bluegrass Festival, a three-day event that will occur September 2-4, 2016, at the Pike County Fairgrounds and includes the most recognizable names in bluegrass music, including multiple Grammy Award winning performers and International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) artists.  Additionally, the event will feature Shenandoah, one of country music's most iconic bands that have had five No. 1 singles and is a Country Music Association (CMA) Vocal Group of the Year.

To date, organizers have information that visitors from nine states will make their way to Pike County for this festival.  It is possible SamJam will become the largest tourism event in Pike County, and it is poised to become one of the most prominent music events throughout the Ohio Valley.

Greene and Karr have a five-year agreement with the Pike County Fair Board and all parties understand the expectation is to permanently make SamJam an annual event in Pike County.  Similar festivals in the region (e.g., RudyFest [Grayson, Ky.], Musicians Against Childhood Cancer Festival [Columbus, Ohio]) draw in excess of 10,000 spectators with mostly the same acts that will appear at SamJam.  Organizers believe SamJam has the same potential to blossom into an event that will have a tremendous economic impact on Pike County.

Local restaurants, hotels, groceries, gas stations, food vendors, food suppliers, and numerous businesses will benefit from this festival.  Additionally, Greene has indicated that as a music festival, Southern Ohio Multimedia will make charitable contributions to local music programs and music students at Pike County high schools as well as other charitable organizations.

Of course, an event of this magnitude requires a substantive fundraising effort and the support of many.  Following is information of available sponsorship opportunities that will allow you and your company to be a part of this exciting event.

BAND SPONSORSHIP ($1,000)
  • A band sponsor will be mentioned repeatedly between sets from the stage with comments about the quality of your business and your contributions to the community.
  • A band sponsorship also comes with two general admission tickets to the event (value $200), which can be utilized or transferred to clients or potential clients. Band sponsors will also be listed in the event program that patrons receive.
  • A band sponsorship also comes with the ability to set up a canopy where you or a representative of your company can distribute pamphlets or promotional materials and meet prospective clients/partners. Your business will also be listed on an interior page of the festival's web site (www.samjambluegrass.com).
  • Finally, band sponsors will be highlighted during a recognition ceremony on the stage before a featured act on Saturday night (September 3), where sponsors will be mentioned by name and recognized as community leaders who brought this event to southern Ohio.

PRIME (VIP) SPONSOR ($5,000)
  • Prime sponsors will have banners with their business logos displayed prominently from the stage area throughout the event and will be mentioned in all press releases and media materials that will be distributed to local and regional media, including media outlets in the Ohio Valley and beyond, including Columbus, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Lexington, Ky., Ashland, Ky., and Huntington, W.Va.
  • A prime sponsorship also includes your business link on the home page of the festival's web site (www.samjambluegrass.com), which is now live. Organizers of the festival often cross reference social media activity and other promotional efforts with the web site, which directs traffic to your link.
  • Your business will also be mentioned repeatedly between sets from the stage with comments about the quality of your business and your contributions to the community. Further, sponsorship also comes with the ability to set up a canopy where you or a representative of your company can distribute pamphlets or promotional materials and meet prospective clients/partners. Your business will also be listed in the event program that patrons receive.
  • Also included in a prime sponsorship are eight VIP tickets with access to a VIP-only area near the stage as well as access to a hospitality area open only to VIP ticket holders, band members and event organizers. The event will be catered and VIP guests will have free access to VIP food services. Those VIP tickets can be utilized or transferred to clients or potential clients.
  • Finally, prime event sponsors will be highlighted during a recognition ceremony on the stage before a featured act on Saturday night (September 3), where sponsors will be mentioned by name and recognized as community leaders who brought this event to southern Ohio, an event that will have a multi-million dollar impact and play a key role in local economic development.

Centrus Energy Corp.
Reports Financial Results  for the Fourth Quarter and Full Year 2015

Centrus Energy Corp. (NYSE MKT: LEU) reported results for the fourth quarter  2015 and the  full year ended December 31, 2015.

2015 Summary

·Gross profit of $69 million, compared to losses in 2014 and 2013
·Net loss of $187.4 million following non-cash charge of $137.2 million for the impairment of excess reorganization value
·Positive cash flow from operations increases year-end cash balance to $234 million
·New CEO and executive leadership team focused on expanding LEU business and growing business lines
·Successfully renegotiated Russian Supply Agreement to provide greater contract flexibilities in order to address current and mid-term market conditions
·Contracted with global primary producers and secondary suppliers for additional SWU supply agreements
·Successfully completed demonstration of American Centrifuge demonstration cascade

"Our results for 2015 reflect our efforts to transform Centrus into the world's most diversified nuclear fuel supplier," said Daniel B. Poneman, Centrus president and chief executive officer. "During the year we laid the groundwork for our future growth by amending our largest supply contract under mutually beneficial terms, while extending it through at least 2026.  We also signed several new sales contracts to start rebuilding our order book."

Poneman continued, "We are pleased to have delivered approximately 40 percent of our annual revenue in the fourth quarter as we projected, to have met our expectations for revenue for the LEU segment of the business, and to have ended the year with our cash balance above our prior guidance. While our overall revenue for 2015 was lower than anticipated due to a delay in establishing a contract for our ongoing work in Tennessee, we are working to complete that effort shortly. For 2016, our team remains focused on expanding and diversifying our supply base to provide additional value to our customers, leveraging our technical expertise and industry relationships to pursue new sales opportunities, and positioning Centrus for long-term growth."

SUMMER ARRIVES with
JIMMY BUFFETT PARTY
and PARROTS of the CARIBBEAN
Saturday, June 4

Sugarloaf Mountain will get tropical as Southern Ohioans dig out their island-wear, dust off their leis and grab their shades to party with the number one Jimmy Buffett tribute act in the country, the Parrots of the Caribbean! Summer will officially arrive in Chillicothe with Parrots of the Caribbean on Saturday, June 4 for a 7:00 pm concert. The POTC band performs a high-energy, original stage show featuring a "Salute to Jimmy Buffett". These seasoned professionals perform Buffett's biggest songs, their own original Cajun country-rock hits, along with wild and crazy and sometimes outrageous stage show antics. The band has delighted audiences throughout the U.S. and Canada for over a decade. In 2012 they performed for our Troops in Okinawa Japan.

The five musicians who make up the Parrots of the Caribbean exemplify a wide variety of talent. Dave Albrecht, lead singer began his career impersonating "Elwood Blues," the Dan Akroyd character for a Blues Brothers Band. After traveling with it for five years he joined "Legends in Concert" a top-ranked show of impersonators in Las Vegas. He eventually transitioned to his Jimmy Buffett act gathering the finest seasoned musicians. Jeff "Hawaiian Hillbilly" Cline on lead and rhythm guitar and backup vocals is as diverse in his styles of music as his heritage. With his Polynesian mother and Air Force father he grew up in three states and German. On keyboard, Kenny "Tips" Rice, called "The Professor" brings more than 40 years of professional musical performance. A classically trained pianist, Rice has transitioned to all musical genres and an assortment of groups. He has opened for such artists as Edgar Winter, Cheap Trick, Eddie Money, George Carlin, Michael Bolton and Willie Nelson. Greg Martin on percussion and vocals has been performing for nearly 40 years across the country and abroad. Gary "Riptide" Rigmaiden on bass and back-up vocals hails from the Golf Coast of Louisiana and spent part of his youth in Spain and Brazil. For him the island music, songs of the sea, bayou themes and beachcomber blues of Jimmy Buffet's music are right at home.

"A Parrots of the Caribbean concert is one of the most fun nights you can have anywhere doing anything.   We'll have margaritas, cheeseburgers, beach balls and expect everyone to dress appropriately with tasteless Hawaiian shirts and flip flops.  Let's celebrate the arrival of summer together!" Said Scioto Society CEO, Brandon Smith.

Tickets are $20 for reserved seating in advance and $25 day of show.  Concerts are rain or shine events and all sales are final. There will be no opening act.
