West Hollywood Women's Leadership Conference & Network Mini-Film Festival
Join the City of West Hollywood's Women's Leadership Conference & Network's Mini-Film Festival for a special evening short films directed by women directors.The Film Festival in collaboration with the West Hollywood Human Rights Speakers Series and to commemorate National Women and Girls HIV/AIDS Awareness Day, will screen Wilhemina's War, the story of Wilhemina Dixon, an uneducated daughter of sharecroppers who becomes a force in her family's fight for survival from HIV and AIDS. The screening will be following by a panel discussion moderated by Jan Robinson Flint, Executive Director, Black Women For Wellness, and panelists Traci Bivens-Davis, Director of Prevention, Common Ground - Westside HIV Community Center; Gerald Garth, Outreach Coordinator and Media, Communications and Public Relations Coordinator, Black AIDS Institute and Black Treatment Advocates Network Los Angeles; and Carolina Groppa, Producer, Autism in Love
The evening will also include the launch of PLATFORM, a screening curated by women for women to showcase emerging female filmmakers. We will be showing short films by Christina Acevedo (Agatha Gone); Monica Ahananou (Rio Animation); Deb Clementine (The Looking Glass); Joie Estrella & Houston Traher (Under The Mesquite); Nana Ghana (LA Women Rising); Gloria Maria Guadalupe Moran (The Unique Ladies); Erica Ortiz (Mis Match); Sylvia Saether (King of Norway); Arkasha Stevenson (Vessels).
