A book by our "Littles"

M IS FOR MINNESOTA features an A to Z of the best of Minnesota and it's written by kids for kids. "Littles" participating in JFCS' Jewish Big Brother/Big Sister program wrote this book about their favorite icons in their home state.

Minnesotans are generally skeptical of warm weather in March. We generally do not accept that winter is over even when the snow melts and the grass begins to green. It's probably fair to say that rather than revel in the remembrance of spring times past, we brace ourselves for one final snowfall usually coinciding with State tournaments and Passover. Are we skeptics or realists? Are we risk-takers or more prone to think and act conservatively? Are we planners or spur-of-the-moment sorts?

Whoever you are and however you respond to those questions, JFCS has something for you!

Whether you need some help, can offer some assistance, or can contribute, JFCS welcomes you! We're here for you when you need us.

A warm welcome and focus on Healthy Youth-Healthy Communities

In February, JFCS welcomed Emily Saltzman - our new Community Services Director. After spending eight years in New York City as a social worker, E
mily has made her way back home to the  Twin Cities.

In this role, Emily manages several of our programs
that are steeped in JFCS history, including Hag Sameach, Caring Connections, Volunteer Resources, PJ Library, J-Pride, Mental Health Education Project, Caregiver's Conference, Food Security and Healthy Youth-Healthy Communities. In May, HY-HC will partner with Park Nicollet to present What Keeps You Up at Night.

Did you know that April 10th is International Good Deeds Day?

Good Deeds Day is an annual tradition of good deeds. All over the world, hundreds of thousands of people choose to volunteer and help others, putting into practice the simple idea that every single person can do something good, be it large or small, to improve the lives of others and positively change the world.

There are many ways you can help.

Give2016
People of all backgrounds and ages, people you care about and people like you look to JFCS as a source of help each year. For more than a century, people facing life-changing and unexpected challenges have come to expect that JFCS will respond with enriching, high-quality programs, service and assistance.

Please support JFCS to meet the needs
of thousands this year

With gratitude
Harriet Swatez is a long-time friend and supporter of JFCS. In addition to generously serving on the Board of Directors for eight years, she is a volunteer extraordinaire! And, she is setting the example for the next generation.

Harriet and
five of her seven grandchildren recently delivered their 179-pound donation of food to PRISM. The kids spent time touring and asking the staff good questions, and helped put away all the food they had purchased for their donation (using money the family collected at Chanukah time, in lieu of a gift exchange). One of the granddaughters also collected 27 boxes of Girl Scout cookies during her sales from friends and neighbors who wanted to donate!

JFCS Staff recently attended Hunger Day on the Hill in support of MN FoodShare's March campaign. We're thankful to have the support of Senator
Terri Bonoff!
