LIGHT UP THE WORLD
Update

We hope you've had a great start to 2016.

We've been busy testing new off-grid solar systems, designing for upcoming projects, and helping our partners expand solar into remote areas. We were pleased to present alongside our peers at the Smart Villages Forum in Peru in late January. It was great to be in the same room with so many from other NGO's, the private sector, and government sharing experiences about energy access in South America. We would also like thank the FUSE Collective for the opportunity to participate in their Annual Gala in January and share our story with students, industry and academia.

We would like to acknowledge the great contribution that our  Engineers Without Borders UK volunteer, George Evans, has made over the past six months working from our field office in Peru. He will certainly be missed, though we are excited to continue the partnership with EWB-UK and welcome another volunteer in the coming months.

For those of you in the Calgary area, make sure to mark March 31st in your calendar. Come down and meet us for a drink between 5 and 7 p.m. at the Bank and Baron Pub. It's a great chance to meet staff, volunteers and catch up. Be sure to RSVP!

Project Updates
Over the past few months we've been particularly busy working with partners to bring electric power and light to families and students in Guatemala and Costa Rica. In Costa Rica our local partner, ACEM, installed solar systems in two schools. One of the systems was installed in the community of Swakbli (seen above). The system is now being used to help kids in pre and primary school as well as adult education in the evenings. It took our partner one day to complete the installation of the 180 watt system. We would like to thank West Springs School for making this project possible.

Save yourself some money, support sustainable power, and by using our referral code, the monthly electrical fee will be donated to LUTW.
