As many of you know, over the past few years my daughter, Georgi and her soon to be husband, David have developed an increasing interest in food: how we produce it, how we process it, how we consume it, and how each of those choices impacts our own personal health and the health of the planet. After personally experiencing the profound effect of nutrition and a lot of reading and research, FareWell was born: a company that is focused on helping individuals improve their nutrition, weight, and overall health by making better food choices.
The beta launch of
FareWell
is the first step in building what will become a digital health platform that combines personalized nutrition with digital tools and the support of specially trained health care practitioners to help people lose weight, prevent disease and live healthfully.
It's clear that it's time to make a change in what and how we eat, for individual health and the health of our society. Why is this important?
- Three of the four leading causes of preventable death, including heart disease, cancer and stroke are diet related.
- Two-thirds of the U.S. population is overweight or obese, and more than half are either pre-diabetic or needlessly suffering from type-2 diabetes.
- There is clear and compelling scientific evidence indicating that a diet with more plant-based foods and less meat is better for our health and the sustainability of the planet.
FareWell's mission is to make eating healthfully quick, easy and delicious, and to help turn the tide in disease prevention and wellness.
The product is in the very beginning stages of development. The FareWell team is building and testing the product bit by bit with the help of beta users. These users provide invaluable feedback that informs how the FareWell team builds the next round of features.
