The 2016 Trip Season
Is On Its Way!!!
We are so excited to start this year off by building a school for the children in San Antonio, Guatemala. This school is being built in memory of Jo Mattingly, a faithful team member who traveled with Bellarmine University in Louisville, KY for many years. The construction process was started during the January 29 - February 7 Trip and will continue on with the help from Bellarmine University and others on upcoming trips.
Guatemala Trips:
January 8 - 17
Physical and Speech Therapy Clinics, installed water filter systems, construction of benches, gave away backpacks to kindergarten class, medical and dental clinics, and children's activities
January 29 - February 7
OB/Gyn surgeries, general medical clinics, cervical cancer screenings, firefighter training, eyeglass clinic, installed water filter systems, began the construction of the school in San Antonio
February 26 - March 6
Physical Therapy Clinics, Dental Clinics, construction of the school in San Antonio, and painted a mural on a local school
Change The World Project
Meet Thora Kastner-Lang a student at Kettle Moraine High School in Wisconsin. For her school project, she collected donations of school supplies for the children in Guatemala from two elementary schools. She distributed flyers to all the students and picked up the donations as part of a "change the world project" for her sociology class. She went on a trip with HIM to Guatemala a few years ago and with this project she hopes to continue this experience for years to come. She said "It was truly an experience of a lifetime." Thanks, Thora. We can already see the smiles on the students faces when they receive these school supplies.
Thank You To Our Resale Shoppe Volunteers
On January 18, we were so excited to welcome students and faculty from the University of Illinois at Chicago to our Resale Shoppe in Munster. They volunteered helping us sort, organize and pack items within our store and warehouse. Thanks for all your hard work.
We also welcomed members from Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Burbank, IL who came out on January 31 along with those from Calvary Church from Orland Park, IL who joined us on February 20. We are so grateful that you came to help us sort through donated items, organize the store and go through miscellaneous items to be sent to Guatemala. A big thank you to all who came out and so willingly gave of your time and talents.
Water For Flint
HIM partnered with those who collected bottled water for Flint, Michigan. We were happy to be able to supply our truck to be used to transport the water to those in need.
Amarillo Roadhouse Restaurant Supports HIM
We are so excited to have Amarillo Roadhouse support HIM. The first Thursday of every month, they will donate 15% of sales to HIM when accompanied by their flyer or by mentioning Hearts In Motion. Amarillo Roadhouse is located ate 1924 US Rt. 41 in Schererville, IN. Let them do the cooking and help raise funds for HIM!!!

"SAVING LIVES IS WHAT WE DO"
On April 9, Hearts In Motion & Alsip To The Rescue are holding a joint fundraiser. It's going to be a great night filled with music, dinner and casino style entertainment.
