Wolfe's Neck Farm
184 Burnett Road, Freeport - 865-4469
Grab a fork, and support local farms and food pantries
Wolfe's Neck Farm set to launch third season of its farm-to-table dinner series.
A growing appetite in the state for fresh, local food has made Wolfe's Neck Farm a key player in supporting the trend. Its Farm-to-Table dinner series enters a third season with much anticipation, as attendants feast in the rustic setting of the historic Mallet Barn.
This annual celebration of food, farming, and the community comes with a greater impact. The dinners serve as a fundraiser for the farm's Teen Ag program, which provides an immersive education for local teens in sustainable agriculture while contributing thousands of pounds of fresh produce to local food pantries each year.
Each dinner is prepared by a local chef and highlights food grown at WNF and other local farms, as well as locally- crafted spirits, beer, desserts and more.
"The 2016 series promises to be the most exciting yet," says Executive Director Dave Herring of the upcoming season. It will feature longtime partners like Miyake, Frontier and Gather, and bring some new faces to the table with Fire and Company and UNION.
- Sunday, June 19th - Tasting Event with Frontier and Gather
- Sunday, August 14th - Family Farm Celebration with Fire & Company
- Sunday, September 11th - Pig Roast with Miyake

Congratulations to Paul!
Paul Conley, deputy Freeport fire chief has worked tirelessly to earn and maintain the designation for Freeport's HeartSafe Community Award. This award is giving to communities that meet a certain set of criteria, and Freeport Fire & Rescue has maintained and in some cases increased its capacity to meet this set of criteria and is being recognized at the "GOLD" level.
HeartSafe Communities is a recognition program based on the
"Chain of Survival,"
which has been implemented in other states and countries to help improve outcomes associated with cardiovascular events. Its purpose is to recognize the excellent work being done by Emergency Medical Services (EMS) programs throughout Maine and to provide further opportunities to enhance community partnerships, resources, and services to improve cardiovascular health and decrease deaths due to cardiovascular-related events, including sudden cardiac arrest, heart attack, and stroke.

IF WE BUILD IT THEY WILL RUN
RSU 5, our community school serving Durham, Freeport, and Pownal, is in the midst of a Renaissance. The cornerstone of this resurgence is the current $14.6 million renovation and addition of the Freeport High School. The High School is a center for not only our children's education but also our community and businesses in Durham, Freeport, and Pownal. Unfortunately, our community center is sadly lacking one extremely important component; an all-weather track and turf field sports complex. The Tri-Town Track and Field Project, with the help of Olympic Marathon gold medalist Joan Benoit Samuelson and a lead pledge of $1 million dollars from Nike, has already raised almost $2 million total dollars. Now is the time for you to help privately fund the additional $1.2 million dollars needed to build a sports complex that will create a complete high school campus allowing our students to excel, while promoting health and wellness in our community, and creating a strong and vibrant downtown business district.
I
f you have questions or would like to explore sponsorship of the project, please contact us through our website, tritowntrack.com, like us at the Tri-Town Track and Field Project Facebook page, or contact
