Canadian Municipalities
Reduce Emissions and Save Energy

The Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) has released a new 53-page report  on local initiatives in some of the 250+ Canadian municipalities participating in its Partners for Climate Protection program. The report details results from a 2015 survey and provides leading examples of climate change action plans, projects and funding sources. In our province, so far only Regina and Saskatoon are participating in the Partners for Climate Protection program.  Now that Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has pledged to invest a further $75 million to help municipalities reach their climate goals, the time is ripe to get your climate action plan in place.

Rail Crossing Survey

Thank you to all the municipalities that completed our recent survey on the Grade Crossing Regulations. SUMA is analyzing the information and will keep you apprised of any action. For those of you who may have missed the survey, it's not too late to act. If you have an active Canadian National Railway or Canadian Pacific Railway grade crossing in your municipal boundaries, your municipality is responsible and has been mandated to have the requested information reviewed by an engineer and provided to the carrier by November 27, 2016. If you are interested in a group purchase of engineering services, please send an email to Beverly Bradshaw . For more information visit the Transport Canada website.
