Graphic Arts Design - Hartford Farmer's Market Logo
Dana Osmanski, the volunteer Market Coordinator from the Hartford Improvement District part of Hartford BID contacted the high school this fall to work with a class to create a new logo for the Hartford Farmer's Market. Students in Ms. Danay's Graphic Arts Design class were tasked with creating a logo that would bring in the old fashion look of the old Kissel truck while incorporating the typical theme of the Farmer's Market. After the initial design phase, the group met and chose Kaitlyn Peterson's logo, but had a few tweaks for her design. Kaitlyn had re-created the Kissel truck by hand-drawing it in Adobe Photoshop also drawing some barrels and produce. Look for Kaitlyn's logo this summer as they begin to market the Farmer's Market, which can be seen below.

Most Likely to Succeed

Based on the book by Tony Wagner and and Ted Dintersmith, Most Likely to Succeed is an edu-documentary upon the book shown this last August at the Milwaukee Film Festival and is currently being shown across the country.  The book and documentary encourage a new type of education for the 21st century (one similar to our freshmen cohort).  It follows students and parents through project-based learning and preparation for life after high school.

The Hartford Area Schools (HUHS, Erin, Neosho, Saylesville, Friess Lake) have decided to host this film here on  Thursday, January 28.  We have posted the event on  EventBrite.  You can log in to get your free e-ticket to attend as there are only 265 tickets (Drama Lecture capacity).

News from the Counseling Department
ACT Testing
All students considering a two or four-year college experience are reminded to take the ACT test during their junior year.  Students can register for the ACT at www.actstudent.org . When registering, students will need the HUHS school code, which is 500-850.   Please remember to check the website to see if the college(s) your son or daughter is considering requires or recommends the ACT writing test.   The test fee for the ACT is $39.50 and the ACT with writing is $56.50.   If you feel you cannot afford the test fee, please ask your child's counselor if you are eligible for a fee waiver.

HUHS is an ACT test center for all testing dates. The test dates for the 2015-2016 school year are:
February 6, 2016                               April 9, 2016                                        June 11, 2016

Note:   Please keep in mind all juniors are required by state law to take the ACT at the high school on March 1 (no cost to the student on March 1).  When considering whether or not to take the February or April ACT, it may be best for students to take the March 1 test, then decide whether or not to retake the test in June based upon March results.
