A Valentine's to Remember
February is the month of love and romance, and if you have a special someone in your life--or a hot date--you might be looking forward to a perfect, pleasure-filled night this Valentine's Day.

But what if your sex life isn't as healthy as it can be? Women of all ages struggle with conditions that negatively affect their sexual health. Fortunately, vaginal dryness, painful intercourse, chronic infections and difficultly reaching orgasm are all problems that your gyno can help you solve, often quickly and painlessly! Talk to your gyno to find out if these new, non-invasive treatments can put the spark back in your bedroom.

MonaLisa Touch
MonaLisa Touch is a painless and minimally invasive laser treatment for vaginal rejuvenation. By gently acting on tissue of the vaginal mucosa, the laser stimulates the production of collagen, improving the functionality of the treated area and reestablishing the correct vaginal pH, which helps maintain its natural protective barrier and reduces the risk of infection. The O-Shot

The G-Shot
The G-Shot is a simple, nonsurgical, physician-administered treatment that can temporarily augment the Gräfenburg spot (G-Spot) in sexually active women with normal sexual function. The G-Shot is a painless procedure performed in your doctor's office with local anesthetic. In a pilot study, 87% of women reported enhanced sexual arousal/gratification. Results can last for up to 4 months. Call WHP at 217-356-3736 to learn more.
February is American Heart Month
February is American Heart Month, sponsored by the American Heart Association. A healthy heart gives you energy, strength, and stamina: at work, at play, and in the bedroom!

The leading cause of heart disease and stroke is uncontrolled high blood pressure. 67 million Americans have high blood pressure. Do you know if you're one of them? If you don't know your blood pressure, make an appointment with Women's Health Practice this month to find out. High blood pressure usually shows no signs or symptoms, which makes regular monitoring very important.

When your blood pressure is under control, you are 4 times less likely to suffer a stroke, and 3 times less likely to die from heart disease. Many simple lifestyle changes can lower blood pressure, like eating better, reducing stress, and quitting smoking. Visit the Getting Healthy page at heart.org to see the many different approaches you can take toward a healthier heart.

If you're ready to get your blood pressure under control and need professional guidance, visit Women's Health Practice for supportive, personalized care. Remember that most insurance plans now cover weight loss services. Call 217-356-3736 to schedule your appointment.
A new study published in American Journal of Physiology-Lung Cellular and Molecular Physiology finds that the female sex hormone estrogen has anti-viral effects against the influenza A virus, commonly known as the flu. The study supports why the flu may hit men harder than women. Read the full text here.

February is the peak month of flu season! It's not to late to give your immune system a boost by receiving a flu shot. Call 217-356-3736 to schedule your appointment.
Zika Virus Infection Guidelines for Pregnant Patients
Pregnant patients:  Please visit  cdc.gov  to find out what you need to know about screening or revising travel plans due to a Zika virus outbreak. Currently identified affected areas are Puerto Rico, the Caribbean, Mexico, Central America, and South America.

Pregnant women who have recently traveled to an affected area should be tested for Zika virus infection. Symptoms of Zika virus disease include acute onset of fever, maculopapular rash, arthralgia, or conjunctivitis, but 80% of infected women will show no symptoms. Zika virus can cause microcephaly or intracranial calcifications in an unborn fetus.
KYBELLA: Now at Hada
KYBELLA® (deoxycholic acid) injection is the first and only FDA-approved injectable treatment that is used in adults to improve the appearance and profile of moderate to severe fat below the chin (submental fat), also called, "double chin."

The active ingredient in KYBELLA® is deoxycholic acid, a naturally-occurring molecule in the body that aids in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat.

When injected into the fat beneath your chin, KYBELLA® causes the destruction of fat cells. Once destroyed, those cells cannot store or accumulate fat.  After the aesthetic response is achieved, retreatment with KYBELLA®  is not expected.
