James and I travel a lot by air. Frequently our flights are delayed, or we miss our connections and must wait for hours for the next flight. To counter the frustration we resort to a comical expression: "We'll just sit here and bond."
Isn't this what we all want to do spiritually as well? We desire a closer walk with Jesus. The way to form this solid, trusting relationship with God is the same as for humans--we associate frequently. We know and trust those we spend time with.
How can you make sure you spend quality bonding time with the Lord? By making a daily appointment with him! Your calendar is full of appointments. Why not intentionally determine which part of your day will be spent praising and loving your Savior and letting Him speak to you through His Word? Your spirit will anticipate with excitement these scheduled, most enjoyable "bonding" minutes.
To bond means to hold together. Some assignments in life are too difficult to be handled alone. We need not feel inadequate if we accomplish these jobs by habitually adhering to God through prayer--every day and in every situation. His strength becomes our strength because we are one with Him!
