Seder Meal

You are invited to join us for a Seder Meal on Maundy Thursday, March 24 at 5:30pm in our Parish Commo ns. This year, Rabbi Bruce Kadden of Temple Beth El will lead us through the various stages of the meal and speak to us about the significance of the Seder in the past, the present, and the future. Please indicate your desire to come by adding your name(s) to the sign-up sheet in the Narthex or by calling the church office during the week.

Stewardship 103: "The Lord Has Done Great Things for Us" (Psalm 126)

Beginning this Sunday, March 13, members and friends of St. Mark's will submit their Plans for Giving for the new fiscal year starting on July 1, 2016. This week's stewardship messages speak to the very personal reasons they value the ministries of the congregation. As you discern your financial commitments, you might reflect on the ways the people and programs of St. Mark's have made a difference in your lives and the lives of others. Through the mission of this congregation, how has the Lord done great things for you? Peaceful "stewing"!

"If you walk by the Fireside room on Sundays you will see a room full of vibrant, engaged and active high school program in action. Every week, we have about twenty youth in Sunday school. The students want to come because it's fun, interesting and they get to hang out with their friends. Even though they attend over 6 different high schools, they are friends because of the bonds made during the middle school Montana mission trips. Our healthy post-confirmation program is just one of the long-term, positive effects of the congregation's generous support to our summer youth missions." -  Bruce Sadler  and Ingelaurie Lisher

"When Celesta and I look at growing our gift to St. Marks, we look at everything that we do here as a community. We see the actual impact St. Marks has on people's lives and in our lives, every day and how our little part of that has been used to make that impact. And after looking at that, we know the answer and do what we can to increase that." -  Derek Smith

"It is a privilege to support St. Mark's Lutheran Church and give back to a place that gives me so much. I've found a family here and find it inspiring to see the wonderful ways in which our growing contributions impact the mission and ministry. Giving to St. Mark's is one of the most rewarding experiences I participate in. " -  Courtney Stringer

Host A Seder Table

Seder is a wonderful part of the Holy Week, a way to meet other people in the congregation as well as learn about the history and tradition of the meal. Plus it is a great way to host a dinner without cooking or cleaning the house!

Hosting a table means that you set a table for 8 in our fellowship hall. Items you would bring from home include table cloth, centerpiece, candle, and 8 place settings with plate, water glass, wine glass, coffee/tea cup, knife, spoon, fork, and napkin.  There is a helpful checklist and tip sheet, available in the narthex at the demo table.

Our goal is to have 22 tables at the Seder meal this year.

When: March 24th  Event starts at  5:30pm  - Tables should be set up by  4pm at the  latest.

Setup times:  Wed , March 23  from  12-4:30pm or   6-8pm , or  Thurs, March 24  from 10am-4pm.

Connect and Care TimeBank

The Connect and Care TimeBank is growing!

We are on schedule to have trained 6 new members this past week. In addition, we have received two requests for special assistance from help through the Special Time Fund!

This is the kind of activity that we are hoping to see. The more members, the more opportunity to give and receive assistance. It is also a way to connect with someone new and share a needed service or interesting hobby.

Won't you consider joining, too? Membership is $10.00 per year until  June 1. At that time full membership will be $20.00 per person or $35.00 for two in a household.

More trainings are available.

  • Saturday, May 14 at 10:00 am
Sign up sheets are in the narthex. Individual training can be arranged if these times do not work.  Contact Patty Reinkensmeyer at  [email protected]  or call at  253 857-7977 .
