January and February have been
exciting times at Yoga Goodness! Our mantra for January and February was All You Need to do is Show Up.
We had over 30 people enter our 21 classes-in-31-days challenge and most of them are still coming to class nearly every day. And...I must admit, so many people are looking and feeling better - this yoga stuff works!
Our community members tell me they feel increased strength, flexibility and stamina; a clearer sense of focus and purpose; and positive physical confidence.
A new student came to my class two weeks ago and when I asked if this was anyone's first yoga class, she said, "Yes, sort of." She'd done some yoga videos at home but she was ready to come to an in-person class now. She was back the next day and the day after that. When I told her how happy I was to see her here so regularly, she told me that she was loving the classes but regreted that she hadn't started taking yoga classes years ago. When she showed up in my class a week later, I asked her how she was doing and she said something all together different. She said, "I no longer regret not starting sooner. I am exactly where I should be right now." Wow.
The yoga classes had not only helped her feel physically good but she felt a genuine sense of contentment and confidence, too. Her inner yogi was just as alive as her outer yogi!
So, our mantra for March and April is You Are Exactly Where You Should Be Right Now.
This doesn't always mean that nothing should change and everything is perfect. It means that if we can awaken to our life and be present with things as they are, we cultivate both a sense of appreciation for our life and some clarity about what we need to do to fulfill our own promise. It might mean you need to create some shifts in your life, take some action or that you need to be patient and steady. It might mean coming to more yoga or taking a day off. Yoga is not about pushing or pulling, but finding the middle path between not too tight and not too loose. The only way to do that is to pay attention to what is going on right now. The practice at YG is about being mindful and compassionate on the mat so that we can be that way off the mat, in all of our relationships.
The YG team has been busy coming up with new ideas to help you be in the right place this spring - and we hope that place is with us!
Namaste,
Cyndi
