"Pulitizer Prize" Sponsor
Cavalier Logistics
is a full logistics company that warehouses and transports freight domestically and internationally by ocean, air, and land.
Founder and President Tim Holdaway wanted to sponsor at the top level because promoting literacy is "such a good cause." At the age of 10, Tim discovered that his cab-driver granddad couldn't read. "A hard-working guy, he knew every road by heart," Tim says, "but he couldn't read the words on a map." Tim says he is investing in the future by contributing to RIF of NOVA's Book it for Books race. Thank you, Tim and Cavalier Logistics!!!

"Best Seller" Sponsors -- One sponsorship (of 3) is still available!
RIF of NOVA spouses have filled two of three Best Seller sponsorships! Meet John McLaughlin (above), alongside wife and board member Christine McLaughlin, a retired elementary school teacher. Chris has been a RIF of NOVA board member for more than 30 years, holding various posts as president, vice president, and area chair over those years. John was inspired to become a Best Seller sponsor by Chris's dedication!
John Jonas was also motivated to become a Best Seller sponsor because of the work of his wife Sheila. Sheila has been a RIF of NOVA board member for 28 years. For 10 years before that, she was a Title 1 reading teacher in Arlington who received donated RIF books for her students. Thanks to two very terrific husbands (and wives) for their generous support!

Meanwhile, in school news...
At Sinclair Elementary School in Manassas...
For one first grader, the chosen superhero was...Super Grandma!
Turns out, she's a "lovely babysitter" and a good cook! She gives back-breaking hugs, has persuasive puppy eyes, and makes great desserts! Guess it's okay if she's a little "lazy on the weekends!"
...Super Heroes were everywhere!
School liaison and super Bat Woman Rachel Wilson talked with the first graders about their favorite superheroes, real and fictional! After choosing a book, each child selected a super hero to be honored on the hero board.
The Dr. Seuss 112th birthday celebration was a fine time to read and distribute books...
Yorkshire Elementary School in Manassas featured the theme: "Oh! The Places You'll Go!" Fifth grade students created state maps. All classes received "passports" to "visit" each state and learned each capital, state bird, and state BUG!
The library and reading staff members at Barcroft Elementary School in Arlington were ready and waiting for students for the Dr. Seuss birthday celebration. Whoever said "I don't have a 'thing' to wear?"!!!!!
John Adams Elementary School in Alexandria had a Seussical day, too! And the children LOVED it, as you can plainly see!
At Bailey's Elementary School in Falls Church, guest readers from
Capital One read to all morning classes, with each guest reader choosing a favorite Dr. Seuss book to read aloud. Thanks to all our readers and supporters from Capital One! One student, very excited, was heard to exclaim: "Books are my life!"
