Sustaining our Community  for Future Generations

What a year!

From engaging over 350 volunteers and over 58,000 event participants this year to collecting over 40,000 pounds of hard-to-recycle items, YVSC has had an action-packed year with our community.  Read our year-end results from key programs and events in our 2014 Program Highlights here

We couldn't make our impact without your support, thank you for all you do for YVSC!   Thanks to you, YVSC raised over $6000 on Colorado Gives Day, and our push isn't over - you can help us raise $20,000 by December 31st to support our programs and this place we all love so much!

Best holiday wishes to you and yours,
Sarah Jones, Executive Director

2014 Leaders in Sustainability

Since 2010 the Yampa Valley Sustainability Council has given annual awards to recognize heroes in our community who have dedicated their time, energy, and even entire careers to advancing sustainability and resilience in the Yampa Valley. These heroes are inspirations to our organization and are a yearly reminder of why we do what we do.

Thank you to this year's heroes in sustainability:

John Spezia, Michele Miller, Emilie Rogers, Karen Schulman, Jason Landers, Kelly Landers and Bob Keenan

Trees make GREAT gifts!

It's that time of year where we start selling certificates for the baby saplings for our 2015 ReTree Steamboat event!

We get a lot of stuff this time of year, but it's a warm, green, earth-lovin' feeling when someone helps reforests our beautiful backcountry in your name! Get our adorable kid-designed post card to mail with your tree gifts this year!

Trees are $2 each and can be purchased online now - visit our ReTree page to learn more.

Trees will be planted on June 7th, 2015!

Recycle your Holiday Trees and Lights

For the entire month of January the City of Steamboat will collect your real everygreen trees in the Ice Arena parking lot at 285 Howelsen Parkway. PLEASE take everything off your tree prior to drop-off (no tinsel, lights, etc), it will be mulched and used throughout the city in the spring.  NO WREATHS (contain wire).

ALSO, Ace Hardware has a crate next to the check-out registers for recycling broken or unwanted Holiday Lights.
