Issue 69
Fall is here. Zero Waste is winding down, Sustainable Schools is ramping up, and it's harvest time. It must be the season for sustainability!

Sustainable Schools is off to a great start! Schools in both South Routt and Hayden are joining the Steamboat Schools in developing Green Teams. YVSC participated in the Steamboat School Districts Strategic Planning and is excited that sustainability has been identified as a strategic objective for the District for the next 3 to 5 years.

YVSC is pleased that the City of Steamboat Springs has also identified one of their Strategic goals "to serve as a community leader in sustainability." We will start helping the City's own Green Team, to identify ways to "focus on efficiency, cost effectiveness, and respect for the environment" in their daily operations.

This is the last big weekend for Zero Waste events. There are three events - Farmers' Market, Oktoberwest, and Ditch Fest - and we need plenty of volunteers to help us eliminate waste at these events. If you are able to lend a head to close out a great season, please contact Carol at [email protected].
