Artist in Residence Lesley Dill Mixes Literature with Art
The Fullerton College Art Gallery's 2016 Artist in Residence Lesley Dill combines poetry, literature and mixed media to create visual pieces. Influences consist of Emily Dickinson, Franz Kafka, Pablo Neruda, Leo Tolstoy, including Dill's donation to the FC permanent art collection "Horse Dress Puppet," which was influenced by Tolstoy. Dill is giving a lecture on March 14 and a demo on March 15 to talk about her process, art, writing including an excerpt from her opera.

FC Theatre Arts Presents
Parade
Based on the true story of the trial and lynching of Leo Frank,
Parade explores the themes of religious intolerance, political injustice and racial tension in this musical written by Alfre Uhry and scored by Jason Robert Brown. This production by the Theatre Arts Department is directed and choreographed by Tim Espinosa with musical direction by Sarah Weinzetl.
Parade runs March 10-12 at 7 p.m. in the Campus Theatre. For tickets and information,

Fullerton College Hosts Conference for Undocumented Students
A new program aimed at providing support services to the nearly 1,000 undocumented students, who attend Fullerton College, will host the first campus-wide AB540 Conference on March 11.

Stephen T. Blount Elected as NOCCCD's Area 3 Trustee
The Orange County Registrar of Voters has officially certified Mr. Stephen T. Blount as the winner of the February 9 Trustee Area 3 election. His term runs through November 2018, and the North Orange County Community College District (NOCCCD) Board of Trustees will seat him at their March 8 Board Meeting.

Fullerton College Debaters Take Top Awards at CA Swing Tournament
Fullerton College debaters competed against teams from CSUN, CSUF and Irvine Valley College. The back-to-back "California Swing Tournament" was a warmup for the upcoming national championship, being hosted at Fullerton College on March 11 and 12.

Men's Basketball
The Hornets hit the road against Chaffey College last Wednesday night for the SoCal Semi-Finals and lost a close one 73-71 in overtime.

Baseball
The Hornets opened conference-play at home on Saturday afternoon with a 9-4 win over Golden West College. The game remained scoreless until the bottom of the fifth when FC broke loose for 8 total runs.
Up Next: The Hornets (11-2, 1-0) will hit the field again this coming Tuesday, March 8 at Golden West College. Game time is at 2 p.m.

Softball
After a 7-4 win over Orange Coast College last Wednesday, the Lady Hornets lost a tough one to district rival Cypress College on Friday. Holding on to a 1-run lead heading into the sixth inning, the wheels fell off for Fullerton as the Chargers capitalized on mental errors scoring 5 runs. FC went on to lose the game 6-1 and now falls to 3-2 in the Orange Empire Conference. Up Next: FC looks to pick it back up when they host Rio Hondo College on Tuesday, March 8 at 3 p.m

Women's Track and Field
The Hornets had a two-day competition at Cal State Los Angeles last Friday and Saturday. On Friday, Cydney Chavers had a six-foot improvement in the hammer and won her flight with that toss and finished ninth overall. Amber Hernandez was 11th overall with her throw of 106'9" and Madison Fitzpatrick was 13th for her 79'1" effort. Chavers finished ninth overall in the discus with an average throw of 103'2". On the track, Belen Gonzalez ran a few seconds off her best in the 1500M with a finish of 5:16.56. She also gave herself a 30- second improvement in the 3000M (7.5 laps on the track). Samantha Duong and Jasmine Mendoza both competed in the 400M hurdles. Duong had finished sixth overall with a time of 1:08.90. Mendoza had a similar race running 1:13.72 for a ninth place.
