200 People and 9 Pies

In his sermon on January 10, Rev. Tutt challenged the congregation to have worship attendance of 200 or more people for nine Sundays before June 12. If we have nine Sundays with attendance of 200 or more, Rev. Tutt will let the middle and high schoolers "pie" him with nine pies at our summer picnic on June 12, and he will bake nine pies for the congregation to enjoy for dessert at the picnic.  Here is an attendance update:

January 3        165
January 10      196
January 17      185
January 24      no worship - bad weather
January 31      194

February 7    261
February 14     155
February 21     195
February 28  243

March 6          204
March 13          180
March 20        252
March 27        406  - Counts for two 200+ Sundays!

April 3              161
April 10          223
April 17          207

There are seven Sundays before June 12. For the "pie-ing," we need attendance of 200 or more on only ONE of those Sundays.

Jubilee Jobs Volunteer Opportunity
Saturday, July 16 and August 13

Here is an opportunity for you to volunteer at Jubilee Jobs -- one of the organizations that Westmorelanders support. The upcoming dates include Saturday mornings (9 am to noon) July 16 and August 13. Jubilee Jobs is a very successful organization that serves our DC community so well, but it needs the support of volunteers. In the recent past, a handful of Westmorelanders have gone to Jubilee Jobs and really enjoyed this experience to work with people who are searching for positions, but just need some help in working on resumes, filling out applications, or conducting mock interviews.

This is an excellent opportunity and is really a tremendous experience for volunteers! If you think that one or both of these dates work for you, please email me ( [email protected]) and Samrawit Delelegn ( [email protected]) so that Westmoreland is on the schedule for Jubilee Jobs. In the past, we have met Saturday morning at Westmoreland @ 8:30 am to carpool to their Ontario Road, NW office. We need at least 4 volunteers (and as many as 8) for each Saturday session.

Thanks,
D. Lee Alekel
